Publisher's summary

Sidney Crosby is ready to tell his story in his own words. As one of the greatest NHL players of all time, he reflects on his 2005-06 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From a Canadian phenom dubbed “the next Gretzky” to an 18-year-old carrying the burden of a struggling franchise, he talks candidly about the intense pressure he was under, the surreal experience of lacing up alongside his childhood idol Mario Lemieux and the truth about his rivalry with Alex Ovechkin. Sidney Crosby, with the help of his family, coaches and former teammates, gives listeners an all-access pass to one of the most scrutinized and tumultuous rookie seasons in the history of professional hockey. Hosted by Pittsburgh native and Penguins fan Joe Manganiello.

Neat story, disappointed with foul language

I wish athletes would not use such foul language. It could have been omitted from the book.

Great Story Better Player

A little repetitive in places. Amazing player! Respected by everyone. Sucks he got stuck with the Pens his whole career lol. Imagine what he could have done on a decent team. As a fan of Crosby but not the Pens it’s still pretty amazing what he’s done for their organization. Love stories like this. Wish there more Audio Docs like this on other players. Go Nucks! ;)

Insipirational

The presentation (intertwining interviews with narration) was engaging. It was captivating. Wish they would create a story about the rest of his career.

Another Humble Hockey Great

This book isn’t about hockey in the ice, there are just a few on ice stories. I enjoyed this book because it talked about the person, the family and everything that went into becoming a hockey legend.

Like watching a documentary!

I absolutely love hockey and what a way to experience the story of Sidney Crosby through this audiobook presentation. This book totally changed my opinion about him because as a West Coast, San Jose Sharks fan, Crosby always annoyed me! Loved learning about his backstory. It’s hard not to be a Sid the Kid fan now.

Won me

I heard of Sid growing up but this was another level! I won’t be a pens fan but I’ll root for them behind my team. But I will be a sid fan! Amazing player and even better person! Thanks for this.

In depth background on Syd’s life

Liked hearing the history on how Mario Lemieux even though not focal point of the story, went and put others needs ahead of his own.

Such a great listen!

I'm a big hockey fan so have always respected the greatness of Crosby and this book was put together super well. The audio calls from games, the interviews and insight from Crosby himself made this a great listen. Learned some fun facts about the Penguins organization and how they went through some growing pains as well.
