Publisher's Summary

Peggy and Pam were two desperately disorganized sisters. They started each day with the best of intentions, but they never made it because they were "Sidetracked Home Executives" caught in the disorder of misplaced priorities, half-completed chores, and undirected energies - two smart ladies who'd never used their heads when coping with their homes.

So, they analyzed their lives and set up a rotating card system that scheduled their chores on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. With a combination of the sympathy of a fellow former slob, and the firm resolution of a for-your-own-good mother, they tell listeners how they too can get organized.

There is a PDF of the appendix provided!

Any additional comments?

I have not yet finished the book, but went searching for the PDF before going and buying a hardcopy of the book to get what I needed to implement the system. One review said there was a pdf included among the many many that said there was not. Well there is! You just need to know where to look. It is in the library under title. You will see the title and under that a little PDF link. So, there you have it. The audiobook is not useless, quite the contrary. If you are a very busy person who doesn't make time to sit and read self help books (like me) but who has plenty of time to listen to a book while doing the dishes, exercising, doing laundry, etc this may be for you. I am excited to try this out. It was recommended to me by my mother-in-law who apparently used it with her children. She doesn't often give me the same piece of advice more than once, but she has mentioned this book multiple times, so I'm giving it a shot and am very excited from what I've heard so far. I think this may be just what I am looking for.

No access to resources

While I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, and find the system to be a good idea in theory, it is only half as good as it could be without access to the Appendix, which is referenced several times. An accompanying PDF file would be most appreciated.

A Classic the is ALMOST updated

I found that the system taught in this book was updated to incorporate the new age of computers very well but I have been having trouble getting access to any of the "work sheets" or "lists" from the back of the book through their website.

One of my favorite "reads"

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have listened to this...the sisters are a little quirky, and their advice is spot on. I have so enjoyed it!

I have listened to this story multiple times.

I still laugh out loud at the sister's humor as they tell their stories of reformation. One line caught my attention "Anyone with normal energy can do this". Hearing that line made me realize that I had a problem with energy. I sought help and discovered an underlying health issue. As those issues resolve, I am able to see the wrong thinking and wrong habits that have been keeping me from living a peaceful and organized life

Yjis book saved my life

Please forgive typos, I am visually impaired so with tiny print, I cannot see it. This writing could not be enlarged. And someone else had to correct words because it will not let me submit a post until I correct errors it says are there.

As my life filled with a Bipolar 1 Disorder that makes me irresponsible, no impulse control, frustrated, minus patience and I am a perfectionist, plus I was created by God without that organize it gene, my home caused more dissension and chaos, that no one wanted to be around.

This book is what God used for a miracle to change my entire life, my thinking, my attitude, my willingness to change and to stop the chaos of my life. All that has been replaced with an immaculate home like my mom and sister accomplished naturally. I became organized inside and out. I lost 251 pounds from February 2013 until September 2017.

I was able to start a process to control my impulsive behavior with a 3 x 5 card mentality. I no longer. I stopped over spending because up until then, my credit score was below a 4.0 and I needed to put in restraint my overspending. I stopped purchasing things I did not need because impulse control is held inside a responsible, organized and structured way of handling life.

I how could have an immaculate home with time to write, oil paint masterpieces, bake delectable delights, cook dinners that pleased everyone, and my hime was not embarrassing if someone unexpected stopped by. My daddy came over to see me one day, he walked in my home and he said, "I do jot know what you are doing, but you got it right. Your yr home is as immaculate as your mana and sister had theirs."

This book also helped me organize my college study. As I was at the beginning stages of creating a nonprofit to help abused children, I could and did use this system to help me. I planned a menu fir each month so that I had the food I needed then I used a notebook to create a cookbook to organize my eating. and it contained a monthly calendar with the categories from the hook. I also made a grocery list from this because I had the meal, its recipes, and a grocery list of what to purchase. Anyway, this hook helped God help me to change me, how I perceive life, attitude changes and a better perspective.

For those not Born Organized (BO)...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Pam Young and Peggy Jones's story and the system they developed to reform their lives from CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) to comfort is excellent. I own the hard copy of this book, but I learn best by hearing. I found this book in this format both entertaining and informative.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The authors, because they shared their stories.

Which scene was your favorite?

not applicable

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I didn't laugh or cry, but I learned a lot about origin of the management system taught in the book.

Some genuinely helpful advice

I found this book to full of good advice that I have successfully put into practice in my own life. I loved the tone of this book - the authors have been there and know your pain. Unlike other books of this kind where the author was born with a clipboard in one hand and a feather duster in the other, these ladies are just like me (worse actually!). They don't judge and they don't make you feel like a failure.

If you are suffering from CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) then this is the audio book for you! We

Hope for us all

These ladies are not heartless perfectionists who bark advice from atop pristine pedestals. They have been there, down in the mud, crumbs and jam. Their advice is sound. In terms of a practical programme, The Flylady is more manageable and there are many references in this audiobook to appenices which, of couse, you cannot see. Definitely worth listening to for encouragement.

Love it!

This is my 'go to' audiobook when cleaning. Pam and Peggy are warm, understanding, funny and wise. I enjoy their non-judgemental, light hearted company every time. The stuff they say is helpful too!

Grating comments at start of book

The opening part of this book makes a very sexist comment which grated on me. It put me off, and the tone as the book continued really wasn’t to my taste. Couldn’t finish it, so didn’t even get to the part about how they tidied.
