Excellent for vocabulary and grammar practice

Would you listen to Short Stories in Portuguese again? Why?

This is the kind of book you should listen to many times over and discover that you understand a little bit more each time. It is perfect for learning basic vocabulary and grammar.

As the title says, the story is about daily morning routine. Honestly, it's not a fun story, but it takes you through a lot of useful vocabulary, from what it takes to get ready for work, driving in traffic, interacting with coworkers, having dinner at home, family time, and finally going back to bed. The first chapter tells this story in the present tense. Next, each chapter tells the same story in other verb tenses (past perfect, imperfect past, future, etc). This is a fantastic resource for someone who is fairly new to the language.

I also bought the paperback and kindle version, and found it helpful to read along and look up words.

not short stories

this should not be called short stories. it is a useful tool for practicing listening skills in portugues by listening to the same routines in different tenses, but its nothing like a story. its drilling common vocubalarly by repeating common routines.

NOT stories - Terribly repetitive and boring -

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

nobody, it is not what the title says at all. Very deceptive.

What could Irineu De Oliveira have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

needs a better title and description

What character would you cut from Short Stories in Portuguese?

all of them

Any additional comments?

I want my money back!

There is no English

What disappointed you about Short Stories in Portuguese?

There is no English, only Portuguese, I can pick up a couple of words but they speak quite fast and I haven't got a clue what they are saying most of the time and it has not helped me learn Portuguese at all.

Great!

Great for learning and studying Brazilian Portuguese.

This recording (and the book/Kindle) is very useful. I use the Pimsleur approach to learning languages (ie I focus on listening and speaking more than reading and writing), and this is a great complement. It covers the typical vocabulary required for every day - home, work, eating, etc.

A couple of small issues: I wish the chapters were shorter (to allow easier repetition of sections), and I wish there was more time after each phrase, so I could say it myself.
