Publisher's summary

Hell hath no fury.

At first glance, most see only a shy girl from New York, but to the denizens of the night - vampires, witches, and their ilk - I am a nightmare given flesh, born to raze their kind from this very earth. I am the Icon, the Shining One, the last defender of humanity against the oncoming tide of darkness.

They say my coming was foretold, that prophecies speak of a beacon of hope who will light the way during the end days. It is said I am destined to vanquish the last of the Magi, and face the Night Spawn in the final battle for the fate of mankind.

If only things could be so easy.

Despite all my power, I am afraid. And if I can't conquer my fear, face my demons, and overcome the feelings I have for a man I must destroy, then I shall be utterly consumed and the world will know endless suffering for my failure.

Inside Sheila's Head

This book is a fascinating look at events from Sheila's perspective. Tess Irondale did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The interactions between Sheila and Meg were highly entertaining and at times touching.

Many books start out strong and fizzle at the end. Shining Fury just got better and better. I listened to the last 30 minutes twice. I cannot wait for the next book!

I LOVE this series and enjoyed this .5 addition

Where does Shining Fury rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This series is in my top 5, but I enjoyed the regular series much better than the .5 additions. I prefer the narrator of the regular series and the story better, but did enjoy this title.

A Terrible and Unnecessary Book

This book was bad from the get-go. It was only because I was afraid I would miss something important that I was able to finish it. This is a wonderful series when it is told from Bill's perspective. When he told Sally's story and Sheila's story the quality goes way down.

Fear of a gun

I got it the first 10 Times, she has pst, and are afraid of guns. Listing to the same thing over and over made the story boring

book 7 goes with "The Wicked Dead" Tomb of Bill"

Great Book as usual in this series and by this author I loved it. Gives insight into Sheila and make sure you read it before or after The Wicked Dead in the Tomb Of Bill series or Bill the Vampire series. Read this before or after book 7 but definitely before book 8. Great audio if you chose to listen. Gives insight into mainly Sheila but also the other witches and the roles they play. Highly recommended

I didn't love it

The Tome of Bill is a series that I have enjoyed from the very beginning but this book wasn't great. It did answer question that came up in book 7 as to where in the heck was the Icon during all of the action. I'm not sure if it was the story itself with all its self pitty and whining or if it would have been better with a different narrator. This was definitely not my favorite book in the series.

its good and long enough to be enjoyable but there is a flaw and that is that bill never tries to learn about free wills and VIP vamps

If Bill read this book, he'd get over Sheila quick

The positives: The writing isn't bad, the action is decent, the quality and quantity of character development is good. I love that we get more backstory and insight into peripheral characters in the Tome of Bill universe.

The negatives: Sheila. How many times can the same character face the same internal struggle and come to the same epiphany, over and over and over again, in one book? By the time I was done reading this one, I was wholeheartedly rooting for Bill & Sally, or frankly, Bill & anyone but Sheila.

Also, though the narrator did a decent job overall, she occasionally mispronounced a word here and there. Not a big deal, but it's a pet peeve of mine in audiobooks. Don't they have someone monitoring that kind of thing during production?

Worth reading, but definitely my least favorite of the ToB books.

Must read if your enjoying the Bill series!

I love the Tome of Bill series. I enjoy most characters and although this wasn't my favorite in the series or as good as Sally's story it's still worth a listen.

Shiela

this book shows you who shiela in in her own eyes. the first time through, I wasn't thrilled but the 2nd time I grew to really like shiela as a person and hope that she and Bill figure out their relationship.
