Publisher's summary

The haunting is often the imagination of the haunted...or is it?

For Charles Gottesman, old Mr. Sherman’s death sparks one of the wildest, weirdest adventures he’s ever had....

Upon Mr. Sherman’s death, Charles learns the rich old gentleman gave away all his money, leaving only his Victorian mansion and the huge library in the house. His will clearly stipulates the new owner must keep the library intact. Of course, with Mr. Sherman being dead, how would he know or even care about the library?

It isn’t until Charles buys the house and discovers someone has stolen items from the library that he understands the significance of keeping the library intact. Mr. Sherman’s letter to the new owner shares the secret of the library - every item in the library is haunted! But how can Charles ever imagine just how deadly the library keeper’s job is…or the blood bath that will follow if he fails to “protect and serve” according to Mr. Sherman’s will?

Loved this!!

This is one of Ron Ripleys' earlier works and after reading some of his more recent ones, you can tell he has evolved tremendously as a writer!! Still though, this book was well written and developed and I loved it.

The plot is fast paced and doesn't let up. When Mr. Sherman dies, his one stipulation in his will is that when his house is sold, nothing from the Library can be removed. The new owner has to agree to this before they can buy the house. Charles Gottesman doesn't see a problem with this so he eagerly buys the house. But before he can move in, items from the Library are stolen and it doesn't take long for Charles to realise how important Mr Shermans request was.

I think I see where the author got inspiration for his amazing Haunted Collection Series!! This is similar though not as expanded as the Haunted Collection Series. I loved finding out about the objects and what was haunting each. Also the buyer of the sword was creepy and I would love to have seen a bit more on him. As with all this authors work, he has created a creepy and spooky set of circumstances that the characters have to deal with, and I loved every bit of it ;) I listened to this in a little over a day because I needed to see what happened next.

In all, this is a well written and quick read. It has given me a hankering for re-reading the Haunted Collection Series!

Jake Urry is one of my favourite narrators and I always enjoy his performance. He read this well and had plenty of tones and voices for the characters. His cadence and inflection was perfect too and he brought the book alive.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.

Haunted Library

I totally listening to this book I read few years back about haunted militaria which has the original evil owners bonded in Sherman's library. Love the characters of Phillip Sherman, Charles and Ellen but ending was a bit abrupt and wanted more. Recommend if you enjoy horror/ghosts and highly recommend Berkley Street Series. Good listen

I enjoyed listening to this book. The story is interesting, trying to recover haunted items and return them to where they can’t hurt anyone. I wonder if Ron came up with so many ideas along this premise and that is why he wrote the Haunted Collection series (which I would highly recommend!). In any event, if you’re interested in ghosts and haunted object definitely give this book a try!

Awesome Take on Hauntings

Philip Sherman has a cool house and is someone in the neighborhood who takes a liking to Charles, a bit of a reader and a loner. With his predilection towards books he finds himself drawn to the older man's library, which contains considerable military memorabilia and some odd occurrences. When Sherman dies, Charles buys his house and learns those items are haunted by very homicidal ghosts and it's his task to keep them in the library. Unfortunately, some were stolen and it's made obvious the need for their return.

That's really just the setup. It then becomes a ghost laden detective story as Charles searches out the other haunted items. There's some cool scenes with the ghosts either threatening or just explaining themselves and the effect of these horrific items. It's kinda akin to the Cabin in the Woods where you pick your death by the item you grab. And taking up that idea there are a couple bonus scenes with the collection of some items. My only problem is there's not enough, I would listen to this narrator and author combo explain every single piece.

A Haunted Library That Kills

Who would think a haunted collection could cause so much destruction?

Charles is about to discover what can happen when haunted items are cursed. As he does his best to keep the collection safe, and the items locked up, it may just kill him - in fact, that is what they are trying to do!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I could not put it down. I listened to an audio version, so shower, car, work - I had it playing as much as I could so that I could find out what would happen next. Ron Ripley is one of the best out there, and I enjoy his stories. I hope he continues this series, I would love more!

Excellent ghost story.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sherman's Collection. This is one of the best ghost stories I've come across in years. The audiobook edition was very well done.
