Story
Holmes and I (Dr. John Watson) were called to Scotland Yard to help investigate a double murder on a train. The train-station managers were getting irritated because they weren’t allowed to let any trains leave until we got this murder solved. The driver of the train was in the engine compartment while the conductor was at the caboose. The officer onboard thought they had been shot at the same time since he had heard the shots go off at the same time.

Story
Solve This.... Holmes, his brother Mycroft and I were sitting in the local pub drinking ale and smoking. Holmes had just helped Scotland Yard solve another case, and he felt like celebrating. We agreed to play a game of billiards while chatting about our days. We hadn’t seen Mycroft in several weeks, so he was ready to regale us with tales of what he called an adventure. His version of an adventure was sitting in courtrooms or at Scotland Yard to see what was happening.

Story
It is 1872, and a series of gruesome murders is the talk of London. Mycroft Holmes - now 26 and a force to be reckoned with at the War Office - has no interest in the killings; however his brother Sherlock has developed a distasteful fascination for the macabre to the detriment of his studies, much to Mycroft's frustration. When a ship carrying cargo belonging to Mycroft's best friend Cyrus Douglas runs aground, Mycroft persuades Sherlock to serve as a tutor at the orphanage that Douglas runs as a charity, so that Douglas might travel to see what can be salvaged.

not for Arthur Conan Doyle fans
Holmes and Watson are used as window dressing for a series of riddles, codes, and logic puzzles, each presented as a 2-minute story about yet another murder, kidnapping, or Moriarty scheme. the stories aren't really true to the characters or the era, and are frequently discordant with the puzzles they enwrap; yet there are a few that get the spirit almost right. Puzzle fans may enjoy a different twist on the usual puzzle book fare, but Holmes fans will be disappointed.

Good but....
I love the concept of this book but it doesnt always work as an audiobook as a lot of the puzzles rely mainly on you seeing the puzzle written down to be able to spot the answer. If you want to solve them properly you'll need to sit and listen with a paper and pen!
