Publisher's summary

She’s strong. She’s smart. And she’s way in over her head.

Deena Sharpe knows nothing about investigating a cold-blooded murder, but when her sweet aunt asks her to find out who killed her son, that’s exactly what Deena agrees to do. Only hitch, he died 50 years earlier, although his body was just discovered in a sheriff’s forgotten evidence closet.

To make matters worse, a big-city conspiracy nut is determined to cash in on her family’s misfortune and implicate Deena’s dead cousin in the crime of the century. Can this small-town, southern woman with genteel manners outwit those who’d rather keep the truth under wraps, or will her family make front page news for all the wrong reasons?

Sharpe Shooter: Skeleton in the Closet is the first standalone whodunit in the clean and humorous Cozy Suburbs Mysteries series. If you like perplexing puzzles, quirky characters, and a mature, savvy sleuth, you’ll love Lisa B. Thomas’ mysteries with heart and humor.

Deena Sharpe takes on the case of a 50 year old murder in this cozy mystery. I loved all the twists and turns that kept me guessing... right up until the end!

Kelley Hazen did a fabulous job with the narration. Her ability to voice so many different characters is amazing. I look forward to listening to her next performance!

Quirky Mystery

I enjoyed listening to this fun lighthearted at times funny mystery, a change from the dark mysteries. Deena is a retire teacher and wannabe investigator and main character who is trying to solve the murder of her Uncle Matthew murdered 50 yrs. ago after skeleton was identified by DNA. Investigator reporter is trying to connect his death with conspiracy of President Kennedy’s assassination. Narrator does great with the characters. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a fun, easy mystery with twists. I was this free review copy audiobook by Storyteller and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Deena starts her sleuthing career...:)

This is Deena Sharpe's first murder investigation - and it's really intriguing, engaging and funny:) It's also a wonderful introduction to all the characters that we will meet again in the next books in the series and it sets up mood for them - all murder cases Deena gets involved in are personal matters and hit close to home...

The plot is fast, the leads appear and take us in different directions, there are a few possible suspects, all with plausible motifs for murder and no alibis, and there's Deena - smart, a bit crazy, but warm and loyal to those she considers family and friends, sometimes too loyal for her own good:) She's definitely one of the more likeable amator sleuths in literature:)

Narration by Ms Hazen is as usual very good. The voices are diversified, each perfectly matching the character it is given to; the pace of her reading is just right and the emotions conveyed in a clear, convincing way.

Sharpe Shooter

Sharpe Shooter by Lisa B. Thomas is the first book in the series that features Deena Sharpe. I loved how the author wrote a clean cozy book with a touch of romance plus murder mystery. The guilty suspect was not obvious, which I really enjoy. Kelley Hazel does a wonderful performance giving the characters distinctive voices. Being able to hear who is speaking is great. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator in the future.

Sharpe twists abound in this book!!

I really enjoyed this story, with so many twist for the motive it keeps you on your toes and listening right up until the end. I love the one liners and playful banter between the main character and her husband, it had me laughing in a few places.
Deena gets a phone call that turns her life upside down, when after 50 years her missing uncle's body is found in the evidence room at the police station. Triggering multiple conspiracies for the reason for his death. Deena and her brother start looking into the past in the hope that they can find the answers her grandmother needs to be able to rest in peace.
The narrator was easy to listen too and the time just flew by listening to the story.

Annoying narration

Overachieving. Annoying made the story almost impossible to get through to the end. The ridiculous over emphasizing and horrible accents were over the top.

Great Read

Sharpe Shooter: Skeleton in the Closet was another good read by Lisa B. Thomas. Deena doesn't know anything about investigating murders. But her aunt wants to find out who killed her son. Unfortunately he died fifty years ago even though his body was just discovered. There is a conspiracy nut who is trying to cash in on the murder with some pretty crazy ideas. This was another great read in the series.

Very Enjoyable

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by narrator and really enjoyed it. I started listening to this series with the second book and really like being introduced to all the main characters. What can an out of work school teacher do to keep herself busy...Well Deena Sharpe has herself a family mystery to solve. After a 50 year old skeleton turns out to be her missing uncle, Deena is asked to find out why he was killed. With the help of her brother, Deena starts to turn everyone's world upside down. It's a great combination of suspense and humour in the sunny state to Texas. Well worth listening too.

Loved It!

This is a great book and and beginning of a great new series. The narrator did a fantastic job narrating all of the parts in this book. I am looking forward to reading and listening to the other books in this series.
