Publisher's summary

Ex-model Paige McCarty is fed up with being just a pretty face. After her ex-husband’s gambling problem left her royally screwed and tragically shoeless, she started Fool Me Once Investigations with her best friends, Lorlei and Kennedy, to prevent other women from being similarly played and dismayed.

The job: Act as bait for a cheating husband. The target: Matt Russo. The case should be as easy as getting a man’s attention - and Paige has never had trouble with that. The problem is Matt - in all his nerdy-hot glory - turns out to be not such a scumbag after all.

And when the case hits closer to home than Paige could ever have imagined - landing her in a face-off with the mob - she wonders if taking the job just to prove that she has a brain maybe wasn’t her best idea.

This second outing for the Fool Me Once team follows in the same fun, feisty footsteps as best-selling author Tara Sivec’s Shame on You.

Not Bad But Needs More Depth and Development

I didn't love this one as much as book one. It's still funny and has a great start, but I was less interested in the direction it went. This one focused a bit more on the mystery, and I wanted more time spent on the relationship between the two, since I wasn't into the mystery.

The side characters and audiobook narration were both still excellent. I may have liked it better if it had been a bit longer and developed the characters a bit more.

Free ebook with Free audible upgrade with KU

Any additional comments?

This is one of my many free read and listen with KU and loved it. It is filled with lots of humor and some hot smexy scenes. Amy McFadden is quickly becoming one of my favorite female narrators. Tara Sivic is a new to me author, but I have see great reviews of her work. This is a book and series that I will be happy to purchase and keep in my library. I love being able to sample new authors and narrators with my KU and have actually purchased many of my free read and listens with KU so that I can keep them in my library. I highly recommend this book and series.

Fool me 2

Fun, but not as fun as the first book in the Fool Me Once series. A lot of eye roll moments and forced ridiculousness but I was entertained. I still want to continue with the next book. The narrator is okay, she fit the character's.

This is escapism.

This series is light, easy and fun . Not everything we read must be serious. There's no moral story, it's taking your brain out to lunch! We all need that from time to time.

Ex-model becomes private investigator

Paige gave up her glamorous life as a model in order to catch bad guys. Fool Me Once Investigations started because the three of them wanted to help other women avoid looking like fools when the men in their lives played them. Paige wanted to prove she was smart and not just a pretty face.
As a recently divorced ex-model Paige focused on being a private investigator. She was assigned Matt’s case to prove his wife was cheating on him. Her ex-husband Andy loved parading her around in front of people. He enjoyed spending her money. After the divorce she quit being a model.
Matt Russo was the guy she was following. Her undercover work was a bust when she kept bumping into him on her stakeouts.

Trope: rom-com, friendship, cheating, instant attraction and cozy romance.

Overall:
If you enjoy designer clothes and shoe conversation then Paige is your girl. If drinking wine is your favorite past time again Paige is your girl.

Narrator:
Listened at 1.9x speed reducing length time in half.
Amy McFadden narrated Shame on Me. She’s a female performer. Amy specializes in mysteries, thrillers, and urban fantasy, but she performs for a large range of genres.
This was an unabridged copy. I followed along with my ebook.
Given Paige’s personality as a character in this book Amy’s performance was ideal.

Light, Fun, Listen

This series is great for a quick entertaining escape. A little on the whimsical side but still enjoyable. If you listened to the first book you know what to expect.

Shame on Me audio edition

Well, I enjoyed the story. I read it a long time ago when I first joined the KU program. I recently discovered that could get some audio books through KU as well. That is why I chose this one. I like to listen to books that I have already read. I would best describe the narration as cute. At times though, it was almost too cute & ditzy. Good book overall.

4 🌟

The golden girls! Enough said! 🤣 In typical Tara fashion, the comedy and sarcasm were on point, I felt, more so than the first book in the series! Matt is clearly an amazing man and I loved his and Paige's story of coming together! Looking forward to the last book. Hope it makes me laugh just as much if not more!
