parts of the store made my hair stand on end. the writer should be so proud of his work. just wow

Listened to it for English class and loved it!

I had to listen to this book for a college English class and I was hesitant about if I would like it. I ended up really enjoying it. It has so much in it and can be looked at deeper to see problems in society with racism, culture, family problems, and more! I would highly suggest this book to people who like young adult novels with suspense, some action, and a hint of romance that has a cliché aspect to it. If you listen to it I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

The story line is awesome had me hooked from the beginning. Anika Noni Rose is narration should win an award.

Fast paced

This was my first encounter with the author's work, and I was more than satisfied. I also felt the narrator did an excellent job in bring this tale to life.

Loved it all. Especially the narration. I enjoy young adult books even tho I am way past that age. Making up for what I missed back then I guess.

Artistic Battles

The "lore" behind this book, that shadows or souls can be influenced to do our bidding when given an artistic form, makes it worth reading. Anika Noni Rose's voice makes this story worth hearing.

A New Favorite

This book ensnared me, and held my attention from beginning to end. Ms. Rose did an amazing job as narrator - definitely a new favorite.

Great story. Wonderful storytelling.

Loved the heroine, friends and god father. Anika's performance was fantastic for every single character.
