Publisher's summary

In Book Two, Psychic Liam Baker and Detective Kimball Thompson have embarked on a romantic relationship after battling the deadly and powerful psychic, Steven Pine, months ago. They ended his brutal killing spree of young male prostitutes, and he’s safely in jail.

But when someone starts murdering young college girls, some disturbing clues seem to lead back to Steven Pine. But he’s locked up and awaiting trial. There’s no possible way he could be involved in the new murders.

Yet Liam can’t shake the chilling feeling that Pine has somehow figured out a way to reach out from his jail cell to continue murdering innocent victims.

This 50,000 word MM romance mystery is the second book in my Psychic Detective Mysteries series. You will want to hear book one, Shadow's Edge, first.

Enjoying this series

This 2nd book was a good continuation from the 1st. I find the paranormal/mystery/suspense elements of the series intriguing thus far. Kale Williams is an excellent performer. Although I admit I found the sex scenes were tastefully done, the only thing that would make this series a 5 star series is if Wynne had a bit more spice with the romance.

4 stars - I would listen again.

Here we go again

You know that feeling when you aren't ready to let the past go? In this case it's the past that won't leave Liam alone. A past in the form of Steven Pine, the big bad from the first book. It seems like putting him behind bars didn't equal neutralising the threat the powerful, and very deadly, psychic signified. Liam is convinced of Pine's involvement in the latest killing of college girls. Thompson on the other hand is sceptic - no one can be in two places at once.

Like with the first book, I wished this one to be longer, to have been developed a bit more. Both in terms of Liam and Thompson's relationship that while it's moving forward I wanted something more. The mystery aspect was interesting but superficial. It was all there and had a lot of potential for something really good, but it was all in passing. I wanted more depth. I wanted to become more invested, to feel, but I never did. At least not to the extent that I would have liked.

I believe Kale Williams did try to bring this book to life, but he can't bring something to life when it's just not there. I can't say that there's a particular moment or character that stands out in his narration that I can tell you about. I will say that he has a great pacing and intonation. I love how he changes intensity with what's going on in the book, it draws you in like nothing else can.

After finishing this story I'm left with this unfinished feeling. I don't feel like anything was really resolved, there was no real closure. I hope that will change with the next book (if there will be one that is).

Good story. Good narration.

Liam and Thompson are still working on their relationship while trying to catch another killer who may or may not be connected to the villain in the previous book.

Once again the narration was entertaining, and the mystery had enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.
