Publisher's Summary

Half-human, half-vampire Dorina Basarab is back - and facing her biggest challenge yet in the next urban fantasy in The New York Times best-selling series.

Dorina Basarab is a dhampir - half-human, half-vampire. As one of the Vampire Senate's newest members, Dory already has a lot on her plate. But then a relative of one of Dory's fey friends goes missing. They fear he's been sold to a slaver who arranges fights - sometimes to the death - between different types of fey.

As Dory investigates, she and her friends learn the slavers are into something much bigger than a fight club. With the Vampire Senate gearing up for war with Faerie, it'll take everything she has to defeat the slavers - and deal with the entirely too attractive master vampire Louis-Cesare....

More than just one cut-off chapter

Chapter 11 is missing the end but so is another chapter in the 20's and also Chapter 36 as well.

Can kinda pickup what happens eventually from context, but this is just shameful.

Missing part

Awesome book, great narration. But, we are missing the last part of chapter 11 (book chapter 11, audio chapter 12). It just cuts off and moves to the next chapter. I tried deleting and downloaded it again, didn’t fix the problem. Please fix! I hate to give low stars for the book or audiobook, but I am hoping someone will notice and can fix chapter 11.

Bad Editing!!!

Several ends to chapters were cut off.
Story was okay.
I personally don't like when a book spends a large part on a characters self doubt and inner debating.

Missing Chapters

This book was exciting but very frustrating to listen to because of missing chapters. I finally got the gist of the story towards the end. Very annoying!

Great book but missing ends of a few chapters

I wish/hope they will fix the missing parts of the chapters- I don’t have a hard copy and I don’t know what happened exactly. The book was still great! Love Karen Chance books

I love Karen Chance’s books

I like Karen’s books, don’t like this narrator. Her French accent sounds German. Not enough difference between male female voices and on several chapters the narration stops before the chapter ends and moves on to the next chapter. I hope you get this fixed, thank goodness I have the kindle as well or I’d be missing part of the story.

Worth the wait

I loved this book as much as previous ones but was very disappointed that there were 3 chapters cut off. I will be relistening after it’s fixed and the missing parts didn’t effect my enjoyment but did frustrate me

Confusing and uninteresting

I’ve listened to the whole series so far and liked the pacing and story line. I even learned to overlook the voice and accents for Louis and Mircea. But this book was just confusing with the jumps from past to present to all the new side characters that are introduced. The story seems needlessly convoluted. There’s about 2 hours left in the book and I have no idea what’s going on. 🙁

Overall a good book

Normally I don't complain much about books, but this was was a struggle for me. the flipping back and forth between this time and that time made it hard for me to stay focused. I understand how it played into the story, but just had to go back and re- read/listen to several parts.

I does end well and like where it is leading, but just had a hard time getting through it.
