Publisher's summary

The band is in trouble. Port Gloom is aflame behind them, and hundreds lie dead in their wake as Kellik and his companions are forced to flee their ancient home. But despite the chaos and carnage they've already caused, one thought remains their focus:

Exacting ever greater revenge on the Family.

Yet the truths that Kellik discovered about his heritage threaten to shatter his group's bonds of trust and intimacy just when he needs them most. Weighed down by internal suspicion and the horrors revealed in the Sodden Hold, they must travel to the degenerate and perilous swamp city of Port Lusander, where their every weakness will be used against them.

There is nothing, however, that Kellik won't do to get his vengeance. With witches, assassins, and even necromancers by his side, the forces arrayed against him have no idea what they're in for....

I really like Mike Truk books. every series has good character development while continually adding more.

Story is well developed and good foundation from the first book. This one leaves you just wanting more.

Better than the first.

This was better than book 1 in many ways. The story felt less forced and flowed better I really enjoyed it.

Bought next 2 books

The story is good enough I bought the next 2 books in the series. It does spend a lot of time in the “head / author telling the reader of all the feelings and thought processes” of the main character, which does get old.

Better than the first.

I like this. The sex scenes are still weirdly sophomoric and don’t further the plot too much, but the rest of the book is great and the world is coming alive.

second time reading it and it's still phenomenal.

I have seriously waited almost three years please for the love of God Mike Truk come out with a 3rd, 4th and 5th book and please connect The Shadow Rogue series with The Last Reavers series because both MC's are phenomenal and I'd love to listen to and imagine the reactions of all the characters meeting each other and teaming up to eventually team up.

Honestly? A bit annoying.

I was pretty much just coasting through these books until this point, I can understand why the MC would need all his members even if they're in a tough spot emotionally.

But the dude turned from a ruthless rogue trying to become a member of the family to a people pleaser to all the woman in the group. I have yet to see him do anything that would try to improve his odds in a fight by himself or grow into his role of a leader.

Wish the Arthur just left him as his ruthless self and focus on his goals to take of the family by creating his own underground organization or something, not whatever their currently trying to do.
