Publisher's Summary

The lot of an SAS man is not always a happy one.

Strikeback hero John Porter is sent on a mission with Regimental scallywag John Bald. Where Porter plays it by the book, Bald will always want to break the rules. They are sent to Sierra Leone to extract Ronald Soames, a former CEO of the Regiment and now right-hand man to the President. But when Porter and Bald arrive, the Englishman has disappeared, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

Rebels are threatening to take over the country and its diamond mines - and to massacre all foreigners. Porter and Bald find themselves fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Regiment psychopath, who is already embedded in the country. But it soon becomes clear that the Firm has lied to them about the true nature of the mission.

What seems at first to be a battle to control Sierra Leone's diamond mines will turn out to be about a much greater evil - and with a trail that leads back to both Westminster and the Kremlin.

Not his best book

I've listened to all his stories as well as Andy mcnabs. This story carries on from his last novel but is just lacking in places. However I may just be spoiled as his other works are brilliant. So even if this is your first. Listen to the ready to make your own mind up.

Brutal

More brutal than your normal war fiction maybe not for everyone but it is a good read.

Is this realy by Chris Ryan?

Although I enjoyed the read, the writing style did not convince me that this was solely written by Chris Ryan. I've read many of his books, but this one did not feel quite right. There were, for example, too many references to "blades". There were many other terms included which did not ring true. Still wworth a read though.

Love chris Ryan but this is plagiarism

This book is ok but I would suggest reading Will Scully “once a pilgrim” book over this. Will is ex sas and tells a real story that talks about Sierra lions and how he saved a lot of people. It’s the best book I have read and a genuine story that I think is amazing. Give it a read.

wrong narrator

I really like the voice of the narrator but he is miscast. having someone with such an elegant voice talk about his muckers and about women smoking tabs became too incongruous to listen to. I couldn't finish the book.

Good book but sinister twist

You can't unhear some parts of this story and it totally ruined it for me.
