Publisher's Summary

For years now, Scarlett Bernard has counted on two things: her ability to nullify magic, and Shadow, the bargest who guards Scarlett with her life. But after a sudden revelation turns Scarlett's world upside down, she panics and leaves town without warning, leaving Shadow with her partner, Jesse. In the chaos that follows, the bargest is stolen - and Jesse nearly dies from a brutal psychic assault.

It seems that an old enemy has returned for revenge...and the attack on Shadow was only the beginning. As Scarlett races home to find the bargest and rescue her friends, she is dragged deeper into a terrifying legend that has somehow found its way to present-day Los Angeles.

Now she will have to recruit every possible ally for a battle that will test her null ability to the limit. Scarlett has been in over her head before, but now she risks losing everything...and she's never had more to lose.

Harry Potter for Adults!

What made the experience of listening to Shadow Hunt the most enjoyable?

Melissa F. Olsen's characters are full of, well, character and very real. Or as real as characters set in a make believe world can be.

Have you listened to any of Amy McFadden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Amy McFadden is always super!active. I've listened to both Scarlet Bernard series and one or two others read by Amy.

Any additional comments?

To understand the relationship of the characters, I suggest reading the series in order. Though it doesn't matter if you read the Boundary series or the Scarlett Bernard series first. Melissa F. Olsen's books are fun, imaginative, and well written. Some of my favorite urban fantasy.

Please don't say it's over!!

I have been listening to the disrupted magic series nonstop. I have to say it kept getting better. I was so sad to finish the last book. I immediately went online to see if the series is continuing. I discovered Melissa's Old World books by accident but I have loved them all. My only criticism is with the narration. I loved Amy's portrayal of Scarlett but at times I felt that her other voices sounded the same. Still I thought she did a great job overall and I highly recommend the audio book.

Great story, great series

I’m totally biased so not droning on with a review. (Look to some of my other reviews in the series for more details.)

Look at the genre. If you like this genre you will like both this book and the series. Reading them in order is not required, but recommended to get the most satisfaction from the ongoing story line. The narrator is fantastic.

WHOA!!!

So I have been eagerly anticipating this book and then discovered I completely missed it's release! Not to worry though. I got it the second I became aware of it. If I could have devoured it in one sitting, you better believe I would have. But work and sleep got in the way. So I found out in the middle of reading this book that this is the third trilogy in a set of trilogies. I have tracked down the first six books and plan to buy them and read them. But I hope this review reaches others who didn't know so they can read the others first. I don't know if I messed up at all by doing it this way. They are in trilogy sets after all. But I like reading things like that in order regardless. The narrator was as fantastic as she was in the first two books. I totally adore her! She put so many characters for life for me. Her name sounds so familiar though. One day I will have to find out where else I know her from! Regardless, I loved this trilogy. I FULLY recommend it and this author!

Best one yet

If you could sum up Shadow Hunt in three words, what would they be?

Great story arc

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well Scarlett obviously but I’m also loving Shadow

What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?

Used to her doing these books. She always delivers with good timing distinct voices for the major characters and says the words with feeling

Any additional comments?

It’s a help if you have read or listened to the previous books as it pulls together characters from the original Scarlett Barnard series and also the Boundary Magic series. This is probably the best of the lot though with a great story with really good development of the characters. The Epilogue certainly sets up another book which I can’t wait for

A cliffhanger.....fantastic!

This series is one of the best written of any genre I’ve ever read. It has it all, danger, action, adventure, a little romance without all the gory details (I’m a great believer in ‘less is more’) and the supernatural.

I’m anxious now for the next book in this universe to find out what happens next.

If you like a good riveting well written and well narrated book then this is for you. A good strong storyline with characters you can embrace.
