Publisher's Summary

The Shadow Council lurks everywhere...and high-ranking members have taken an interest in FBI special agent Megan Luchek. From the beautiful state parks of Hawaii to the chilly backwoods of Pennsylvania in winter, Megan knows how to find trouble all on her own.

Money makes it deadlier: Agent Luchek steps into high heels and deep danger when she gets assigned to investigate a bank.

Revenge makes it sweeter: Megan gets a late-night summons to the hospital to speak with a gunshot victim. She knows to expect almost anything, yet he still surprises her.

Christmas makes it chaos: Agent Luchek goes to Philadelphia for an anti-terrorism conference only to face off against real terrorists.

Treachery makes it tense: Megan gets an unlikely ally in the desperate fight to save Dan’s family from a madman. An agent’s job is never truly dull, but it always gets more exciting - and deadly - when the cases involve the Shadow Council.

A series of novellas

I’m not sure if this is meant to be a series or if it’s a bunch of sections in a book. It plays more like episodes of a tv program. The sections (there are 4) definitely can’t stand on their own, so it made sense to join them together. But then there is no transition from one to the next. It just ends. Then it starts again in a different time or character or place.

The reader was fine, but she was a reader as opposed to a narrator. There was little difference between characters in her voice — a difficult thing when POV changes.

I’m all, I lost the plot about 8 hours in, and I’ve no real desire to go back and look for it. Maybe it’s only later that the Shadow Council becomes interesting or important? Don’t know, but it was far too far behind the scenes for me to care or find it interesting.

Overall, it’s okay. It’s a females action narrative- never easy to find. If you’re a bigger fan of conspiracy theories and slow build, you’ll enjoy it more than I did.

I found this 4 books Series a Good Listen!

Though the main character is a magnet for trouble, she is also a dedicated professional. Her partner is a very likable Southern Texan with the expected drawl. This is a 1-4 book series that stories happens one after the other.

Good Action

Good story and it has action throughout. Likeable characters, as well as a share of shady ones.
You enjoyed it and the narrator who told the story did a really good job of keeping your
interest. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.

women kick Ass

I had finsihed a book and was looking for another to read but nothing seemed appealing enough to finish . Then I came across this book with a request to find reviewers in exchange for a free copy. I signed up right away despite not knowing what the book was about . Lol I actually thought it was about witches and daemons . I am so glad I went with this book !! It was captivating from the first chapter and Liz , the narrator, did an excellent job !! ( Minus the voice of kids but that's an issue I found with most books I listened to ) .

This entertaining and light hearted book actually consists of three books in one . I realized now that the books can be sold separately but it makes more sense to have them all bundled together .

While listening, I made several assumptions based on previous books I had read . Glad to say I was wrong on most assumptions. Seven hours into listening , I got worried that the author would pick a villian from the usual lists of profiles . I did a lot of eye rolling but thankfully continued listening . Then came another twist and turn and I felt satisfied.
I enjoyed the relationship between the characters especially between the two leading women .
Cassandra is my favorite character and I would have liked to hear more about the assassin's background but am hoping future stories will cover that .. ( pretty please Julie ) :D

Don't leave this book in the shadows

Wow!!! I loved this book, so glad I discovered it as I really enjoyed it. This is a box set of four books but as most of the stories continues where the last one finished it was like listening to one big excellent book, the books are sold separately and last about three hours each so this was a brilliant way of getting your hands on all of them at once and making it a much better story, otherwise I would probably be saying I wish they had been longer. I really liked the characters from the assassin to the FBI agents family, I liked them all. The stories were all different but connected and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. A must read or listen.
Money makes it deadlier.
A husband wants to get rid of his wife but a divorce is to expensive so he turns to a fixer on the shadow council. Who comes up with the idea of staging a bank robbery then a week later disgraced she kills herself. Unfortunately for him two special agents are investigating banks undercover and happens to be at the bank at the time of the robbery.
Revenge makes it sweet.
With his plans to kill his wife up in smoke he turns to bribing in order to gain the affections of his daughter. The shadow council are not happy with his actions and call for an open day on fixers and Martin Cantrell himself. When one is partly taken out He summons FBI agent Megan to protect the girl but that is in the cross hairs of warring fractions inside the agency but it seems she already has here own guardian angel.
Christmas makes it Chaos
Christmas time is a horrible time to be away from a young family and the is exactly why Megan arranges for her partner family to join them when they get the assignment of talking at a seminar. It's a shame the terrorist didn't warn them not to come to town. Megan finds herself partnering up with an unlike ally to spread the good cheer and more importantly to stay alive but can she trust her new friend or will she find coal in her stocking this year?
Treachery makes it tense
The unlike pairing of an FBI agent and assassin is required once again when a common enemy swears revenge against the pair that saw an endld to his deadly plan last time round. This time he is going bolder by targeting loved ones and getting them to kill each other. Is this a move he will life to regret or will they turn to the dark side?
I really liked the narrator. She did an excellent job of keeping the story fun and entertaining, I would listen to her again.

Gripping

Loved this series.
Each chapter had me wondering what other trouble agent Megan could get into.
Loved the characters, their personalities and flaws.

Also the narration was on top form. She did the accents very well and gives a good feel for each character
