Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Joanna Wylde returns to the world of the Reapers Motorcycle Club....

Looking back, none of this would've happened if I hadn't dropped my phone in the toilet. I mean, I could've walked away from him if I'd had it with me. Or maybe not. Maybe it was all over the first time he saw me, and he would've found another way. Probably - if there's one thing I've learned, it's that Shade always gets what he wants, and apparently he wanted me. Right from the first.

Shade's Lady is a stand-alone story. There is no need to have listened to any prior Reapers MC stories to enjoy Shade's Lady.

SADLY THIS ONE JUST LEFT ME DISAPPOINTED

I loved loved loved all of Joanna Wylde's previous Reapers stories and excitedly expected more of the same with this book.. but sadly it just didn't grab me. So much of the story came from Mandy's inner thoughts.. and yes, very occasionally there were some of Shade's inner thoughts too. Ok so there were some interactions between the characters I guess with a bit of angst, some danger drama, occasional light humor and sex.. but a hell of a lot of the story was taken up by Mandy's constant jaded mental musings about not wanting or needing a man in her life because, in the past, they've all let her and her sister down.

I felt the dark bad boy top dog biker vibe oozing from Shade and I wanted to hear more from him.. yes he was a possessive alpha who rescued Mandy and her sister from certain trouble.. however, there wasn't any romance, tender sentiments, touching thoughts or loving words. Instead these two relationship phobic characters kept having one night stands with each other.. not wanting to commit more - never actually exchanging the I love yous. And not even the excellent narration could save this listen for me.

Worth a credit? For me personally I like a lot more 'doing' between characters and A LOT less 'thinking' about stuff so, for that reason, I sadly have to say no.. and I must admit it became a bit of a chore getting through this one.

I wish I coud never eat breakfast with Shade!

Mandy is is down on her luck. She not only got involved in a crime she knew nothing about, but she had been sent to jail because of it. Now, she is in Violetta, Idaho working as a waitress so that she can help her sister raise her three kids. She would love to be free, to travel and to experience things in life, but she has to stay put until her probation is over. This is all because she trusted the wrong man.

Once she moved to town she met Rebel. She enjoyed hanging out with his biker friends and more importantly riding on his bike. But once again, she put her trust into someone she shouldn't. Now she is forced to pay the consequences of his actions.

I have to say, I completely devoured this book. Joanna Wylde has created a world in he Reaper's MC series that I never want to leave. Her characters always have a darker side to them, but underneath, their intentions are pure. You can't help but fall in love with them as they storm their way into your heart. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

PS - The audio version of this book only enhances Joanna's talent as an author. Tatiana Sokolov and Sean Crisden do an amazing job of keeping my interest and bringing the characters to life.

Terrific story!

The heroine: Mandy - She is divorced and recently moved to help out her sister with her kids, Mandy is broke and working at a local motorcycle bar. She is dating a man named Rebel who is in the local motorcycle club, but thinking of getting rid of him after finding him kissing another girl when he thought she was in the stock room.

The Hero(es): Shade - Leader of the Reapers motorcycle club. He is the youngest national president in Reapers history. He is a murderer that got off on a technicality. He was always the biggest nastiest man in the room.

The Story: The Reapers are treated like royalty in Mandy’s small town. Shade has wanted Mandy since the first time he saw her. She is the waitress that is serving the Reapers one night when they came in. She was told by the bar owner, Bone, that she can make good tips being their server but if she heard them talking about any biker business that she was to immediately forget it.

The book is told in dual points of view and via dual narration, where the entire chapters told from Mandy’s point of view were narrated by the female narrator and the chapters told from Shade’s point of view were narrated by the male narrator. The narration was done by Tatiana Sokolov and Sean Crisden who both have pleasant voices which worked well for these characters.

Mandy is cute and quirky, she named her inner voice wonder woman. She likes her job and takes things in stride. Though she doesn’t want a real relationship after the debacle that was her marriage to Trevor which saw her ending up in Jail because of the creep. Her thing with Rebel was just for fun and she likes him being a biker, going on rides was fun, though Rebel had a bit of a man crush on Shade which was a bit embarrassing.

Things get a bit strange when her boss tells her to take off for the night even though they are still busy and Rebel tells her he is buying a bike from Shade and needs her to go with him to the Reapers Clubhouse 30 miles away to pick it up. She ends up riding there on the back of Shade’s bike. The story ends up being pretty good.

Wanting more

Great book like the rest of the series but I felt like the ending was rushed. Especially with shade being such a big part of the club. Would like to see a part 2. That would be awesome!

Almost but Not Quite

This was not bad but not as good as the other books. I understand the cute humor in Mandy's inner dialogue but there was so much of it you find yourself wondering if the story will ever progress. The plot line of the neverending one night stand was fun, I did like that but I wanted a HEA. I wanted an epilogue that showed her as his old lady in the future. Felt like I suffered through Mandy's inner babble for an ended that was not filling.

Short and sweet

Not a bad novella. The protagonists were likeable, particularly the alpha-male biker.
He was brooding, intelligent and alpha. However, the female lead was strong enough to challenge him, which kept the story going.
