I cannot I good faith recommend

Provides a historical overview of the Catholic spiritual movements, but does so from a standpoint that is not necessarily in alignment with the Church’s teachings. There is a hinting at one point of the rejection of the existence of Satan, and the final Chapter spills over entirely into teachings that are in complete contradiction with the catechism. I wanted to like this, because there is a lot of historical content here. However, I cannot in good faith recommend this book to a fellow Catholic.

Unitary history of spiritual traditions

This is an exceptional audiobook. The author draws together the diversity of Catholic spiritual traditions.

absolutely really good. but then in the last chapter or two starts to confuse modern ideologies for spirtuality and really harms the history.

Beautifully laid out!

The connection of the Spiritualities and explanation for each is superb. The summation of where we are headed is a vision that will be magnificent and better when our divine Creator brings it to completion. It is an ideal that seems to be consistent with the pattern that providence has revealed throughout history. This is a vision that I am glad to be an active participant. Keeping my hope in the unity that I long for because of God the Father's infinite Mercy.

By offering a historical perspective on types of spiritual practice, Dr. Ciorra helped me to better understand my own practice. He is very well-informed and clear. I am grateful for his work.

If you want to learn about schools find another book

I would love to learn about St. Francis and the Carmellites, I didn’t from this books. The end is lost where you can’t figure out what the last school is. The end is preaching about INCLUSION. I need to get another book to find out about Francis because here more time was spent on Claire. The end is several women but you can figure out if they even are part of a school. If u want to talk about inclusion this is your book. If you want to learn about the great schools find another book.
