Publisher's Summary

She doesn’t laugh. He can’t be serious. How will they ever work together?

County librarian Harris Winsted can’t believe she lost her leading man. No. What she really can’t believe is that her friends think Harris’ childhood nemesis, Turbo Baxter, might be able to play the part. Even if it is just a small production to raise money for a hospital library, Turbo’s class-clown personality makes him a disastrous choice.

However, opening night is three short weeks away. Left with Turbo as her only option, she can only hope he suddenly develops a brain, decorum, and a big boil on his handsome face, because when the guy decides to be charming, he is irresistible. But the attraction stops there. She could never be with a man who professes his hatred of libraries and laughs about never reading a book.

Turbo Baxter always knew the harmless pranks he’d pulled over the years might catch up to him, but he never expected his brothers, and their wives, would seek revenge by blackmailing him. But, without another choice, he agrees to their terms: one stuffy librarian’s play in exchange for free repairs to his rig. He’s ready to get back on the road and away from books, libraries, and, most of all, beautiful librarians who are in desperate need of a good laugh.

Can two opposites overcome their differences and fall in love?

His joking nature masks a dark secret. Will she turn away if he trusts her with the one thing that could make her hate him?

Seriously loved it

Turbo has been the prankster of the Baxter brothers & is known for taking things too far. It's not surprising that straightlaced Harris is annoyed by him - I would be, too.

However, in their story, we find out why and we get to view things from his perspective as well as Harris's. I had no problem sympathizing with him not just once I learned his secret, but upon realizing how trying to keep it was what kept pushing him to go too far.

Harris is keeping something hidden, too, and it's affecting how she behaves toward Turbo as well. These opposites attract, but it seems like it can never be more so long as they're trapped by their secrets.

I loved the happily-ever-after to this story so much. The main characters love generously & sacrificially - and with enjoyment for life & each other. It left me smiling long after it was finished.

Better :)

I followed the conversation in this audio better than the previous books.

Story:
I really enjoyed Turbo’s unique twist. I liked getting to know the facets of his personality in depth. I liked getting to know more about Harris and her past too. Wonderful characters. I really do love the theatre angle. It brings me back to being the stage manager in high school.

Another great Baxter Brothers story!

I love author Jessie Gussman and this story didn’t disappoint! Turbo is entertaining and I enjoyed the dynamics of him and Harris. Unfortunately the narrator just wasn’t as enjoyable as the story itself. The reading didn’t flow, it seemed a bit choppy and her range of voices just wasn’t there so it was difficult to really get lost in the story. The talented author saved the day as her story made it worth the listen and kept me engaged needing to know what happens next.

Another great story about the amazing Baxter boys!

This book gives us more of a look into the life of Turbo Baxter, the brother that drives trucks for a living. Turbo has a huge secret that he has been keeping since he was just a little boy, actually he has been keeping more than one. In this story Harris the librarian is planning on putting on a stage production of Annie, to raise funds for a new library in the hospital, to keep the children from falling behind in their schoolwork. I really enjoyed this story Turbo is a lot of fun and people really enjoy his crazy personality. Harris is your typical librarian, quiet and shy, but boy does she come out of her shell when circumstances change in her life. This is a story you don't want to miss!
I received a free code from the publisher to listen to this book on Audible.com. This review is my own honest opinion.

Deal breakers or something to bring them closer?

Wow! Wow! Wow! This series just keeps getting better. Turbo and Harris both have secrets they felt were deal breakers in a relationship and each has let this secret define them. Both of them have hearts as big as the truck Turbo drives in caring for those around them, especially the children and the elderly. Jessie Gussman really puts all the feels in her stories. Clean and wholesome and a great narrator.

Serious fun

This story *is* both light hearted fun and serious. Fun because Turbo has always been the class clown and is renown for his practical jokes. Serious because humour is how he has always masked his inability to read or stay still, and because childhood cancer is no joking matter. I loved how both Turbo and Harris had a real heart for helping others. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Seriously a Fun Ride!

A powerful and beautiful book that scratches the depths of why there might be more than meets the eye, the hidden struggles that some students face, and shines a light on the need for help in areas such as dyslexia.
Torque Baxter is smart, too smart for his own good. Smart enough to game the system with a wink, smile, joke, or prank.
Harris is a librarian and a lover of books. When you have spent long periods of your childhood in a hospital, books become a vital escape. A library at the children’s hospital would provide and the opportunity not to fall behind in studies. To give this opportunity to today’s children she will be required to put her faith in Torque. But, is he really trustworthy?
When secrets come out, can this unlikely pair accept each other?

Love this story!

Jessie does such a great job spinning relatable and lovable characters. In this story, an ADHD protagonist gets to interact with his serious, academic crush.

Both my sons are ADHD, so I love that there can be a hero who's brain is spinning, too!

Unfortunately, the reader is not smooth, but clipped in her phrasing. It can be jarring occasionally.
