Publisher's Summary

The terrifying story of the most monstrous serial killers through history.

Serial killers are the most notorious and disturbing of all criminals, representing the very darkest side of humanity. Yet they endlessly fascinate and continue to capture the public's attention with their strange charisma and deadly deeds. From Jack the Ripper to Ted Bundy and the Moors Murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, these killers transfix us with their ability to commit utterly savage acts of cruelty and depravity.

Only with modern police detection methods and psychological profiling have these figures that have existed throughout human history finally been identified in the deadliest category: serial killers. These methods, the killers' characters and their crimes are described here in fascinating and terrifyingly gripping detail. The whole history of serial killers is brought to life in 50 chapters, including:

  • Herman Webster Mudgett
  • Devil in the White City
  • John Christie
  • The 10 Rillington Place Murders
  • The Zodiac Killer
  • Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, the Moors Murderers
  • Ted Bundy

everything you've read already but in one place

pacey narration but without much feeling or sensation despite the story. overall nothing new or revelatory but still very interesting and a good reminder of the darker side to humanity

ok but nothing new learned

my interest in true crime stems from psychological or social perspectives. this is ok but it just gives lots of facts, more like a general guide. it is read quite well, but I struggled to engage

Disappointed listener

I love true crime, but I prefer information on the insides of the minds of the criminal. This publication was merely a recount of past events, giving unnecessary details on the dates the victims were found, but not for example how the crime occurred or why the perpetrators did what they did.
Don't get me wrong, at least now I've got additional names of the criminals that I want to know more about, so not all that bad. Found the narration very flat. Understand this isn't fiction or drama, but really appreciate at least a little pause between the chapters, as you can easily lose track of you're also paying attention to what's going on on the road (I predominantly listen while driving).

Sort stories with average narrative

I think the stories were good but too short . Each case was desperately squeezed in few minutes review as if the author want to include in the book every serial killer ever existed.
Chapters not clearly divided . Easy to loose tract while one ends and next starts . Performance of the narrator not grate. Make the book very monotonous.

A history of Serial Killers.

A history of serial killers from as far back as Jack the Ripper. Each chapter describes the crime, the arrest, the childhood and best of all remembers the victims and the people that they were.

Don’t waste your money

Many facts within the first couple of chapters were incorrect, the author should have done a bit more fact checking before he discussed someone the topics the book was released
