Amazing Story!

I love this book. Albeit "fiction", the truths & teachings found within are solid and Life-Changing! I couldn't wait to get back to listening to it. The narrator has the most beautiful, peaceful voice. Perfect for conveying the essence of the writer's words! Can't wait to listen to the next one!

Life changing and transforming...

Loved it! Narrator did a great job! Easy to listen to. couldn't stop listening at times. We're reading this book as apart of a book club at our church and it was just what we all needed right before our retreat!
I could relate to all main characters in some form and I was right there on that emotional journey with all of them.
Message that stuck with me was, sticking with what stirs me... that was the first message that has opened the door for the Spirit to do His work... It's been a great journey with these women and the disciplines learned has reawaken my hunger to delve deeper into God's love.

Boring, boring, boring, and narrator only reads.

I almost always search for books with a Christian aspect, but this "story" is more of a new age inner-man study/self-help book. Not much story at all, as if the characters were written only to be tools of teaching. The narrator s/l she is just reading and every character's voice sounds the same so you have to pay very close attention to the names. I wasn't even able to finish the book, only made it to ch. 5 (but almost every chapter is at least an hour long), and it never got any better. It talks very in-depth about walking a spiritual meditation labyrinth and other similar new age pilgrimage, sacred journey, inner labyrinth, spiritual director type things, and something about lectio divina, sacred reading??? Anyway, too much new-age type stuff for me, and waaayyy too boring, and not much actual story. Will try to return and will not be listening to any more by this author or this narrator, they both go on my NO list.

Enjoyed hearing how these ladies’ lives bloomed in community

I loved hearing the story of how these women got to know one another, and eventually learned some things about themselves that led to growth in their personal lives. It was real and tender, and I found myself excited to see them overcome some difficult life experiences with hope and new found strength. I loved it!

Precious treasure

Sensible Shoes had me captivated from the outset. It is deeply rich and challenging and there is precious treasure to be found in the pages. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series. And my heart is stirred to see Sharon lead a spiritual retreat here in Scotland. Watch this space!

So hard to put down!

Seemed a bit heavy to start with but once I got into it, it was so hard to put down, well written, great insight, and you walk away feeling like you've made four new friends in your life!

Thought provoking

A wonderful journey that my wife and I shared over the 15 hours of listening. Many times we hit pause to discuss and reflect on our own journey of our lives by ourselves and together. It is true that God’s spirit reveals things when we are at a place to deal with them.

New Apostolic Reformation Warning

As a novel it’s quite well written. Not exactly gripping but a passable chick-lit. For as much as I could listen the narration was clear and easy to listen to. Maybe a little too superficial for my liking, but I suppose she could only work with what she had.

My reason for choosing to return the book before it hardly got past character introductions, (it does drag on), is that I found conformation to a nagging concern. It may not even cause another to bat an eyelid, or may even be a positive aspect for someone else. For me, I see the works and teachings of the New Apostolic Reformation and its works, along with associated movements, such as the Emergent Church and Ecumenicalism, to be blatant apostate deception as what we are warned of throughout the New Testament regarding the End Times which we are now in. This, to me, was like listening to propaganda/advertisement for the NAR.

If this is not a bother to you then you may enjoy what appears fairly pleasant to be a “Christian” chick-lit long weekend novel.
