Publisher's summary

I wrote this novel in 1995, when medical genetics was starting to bloom. It was the beginning of gene identification to discover the causes of many inherited diseases. Prior to that time, there was no genetic research development to help doctors choose the appropriate drug to treat a particular disease.

I developed this story about drug manufacturers, genetic research companies, doctors, and hospitals all vying for the almighty buck. I became motivated through my observation of all these entities, watching how they were only interested in money and not in helping the sick. Through the story, I brought to bear genetic realities that have since come to the forefront.

Because organ transplants have been in such demand, I created a fictional new source for organ transplants by creating a pandemic of hepatitis D much like what is now happening in the world as a result of Covid-19. The patients depicted were all real and drawn from my actual hospital practice of internal medicine except for the pediatric cases. All illnesses, and the teaching of the premed students and the teaching of nurses, were actual.

Wonderful First Novel

Terrific read about the inner workings of medicine, greed, hospital politics, and cloning of body parts. I couldn't put it down. Most of my readings are at bedtime. "Send in the Clones" kept me awake long past sleep time. Really worth the time spent not sleeping. Wonderful surprise ending.

Prophetic

Loved it. Characters were well developed. Narrator was fantastic. The author has a strong grasp of medical knowledge in the book and made the medical subject matter interesting. It was extremely educational. Plot line is terrifyingly prophetic...very scary stuff! I look forward to Dr Ginsburg's next novel.

Medical Thriller

This is a medical mystery surrounding organ transplants, genetic research, doctors, big pharma, and who suffers. A lone doctor discovers some disturbing information and sets about solving the mystery until it is apparent her life is in danger and her evidence is slowly dying or disappearing.

Dr. Marvin Ginsburg advises he began writing this in 1995; very prophetic about the levels of deception and greed of those in many of these areas. The main characters are well-developed and highly relatable to each listener. The greed, deception, and lust for power through the use of big Pharma and hospitals are vividly portrayed in characters accurately and with detail. While a story such as this can be a bit daunting, the author has written this book with those in mind who do not have a medical degree. It is easy to listen to and follow. I found the dialogue, characters, and plot twists to be well done and highly genuine.

The narrator, Bob Johnson delivers a highly nuanced performance. He moves the story along with the appropriate emotions: passion, deceit, anger, confusion, and the energy needed to keep the listener engaged. His voice was clear and kept the listener immersed in the story from beginning to end.

This is a rare book that shows an author who was decades ahead of the impending path of medicine and whose story will keep one awake all day and all night!
