THIS IS NOT THE BOOK

This is an "original audio adaptation" of the book. I saw the title, saw the "Unabridged" tag, assumed it was the book that I had been recommended, and purchased the recording. Very disappointed and annoyed with Audible for not making it clear that this isn't the book. Don't purchase this if you were expecting to get the book. It's a 2.5-hour commercial.

This is NOT the book

Would you be willing to try another book from Vicki Robin? Why or why not?

Only if it was a real book, not just a podcast.

What aspect of Vicki Robin’s performance would you have changed?

Make it the real book.

Any additional comments?

As another person stated, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK. This is merely a PODCAST from one of the authors just talking ABOUT the book. It is extremely misleading for Audible to mark this as ”unabridged” because it certainly is not. It is most definitely abridged! I feel cheated by Audible. That being said, the information is good. I just wish it was the ENTIRE unabridged book. Overall, this is a good podcast. I just want to make sure others are clear that that's what it is: a podcast.

A good Motivator

This audiobook is divided into 2 parts. In the first part Robin tell her story and introduces the listener to her philosophy of money as life force. The second part goes over her nine steps. I would not call this short audiobook life changing unless you have no prior knowledge on finances. I did find her steps to be freeing in the sense that we can be in control in how our time is spent, it does not have to control us. Also, her principles are religious/Buddhist influenced in her understanding of happiness. I do not see this as a positive or negative, but simply a facet of the book. I also liked that Vicki herself read the book.
Why three stars: logging in at just over 2 hours, and only 1 hour on her 9 steps, this is a very brief overview. This book would probably be better served in the form of a workbook than an audiobook.

Not the actual book!

Good to hear one of the author's perspectives in her own words and voice. But was disappointed when I realized I wasn't going to be hearing the actual book read.

it IS abridged!

What does Vicki Robin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read and still own the original Your Money Or Your Life, published in the 1990s, and purchased the paperback of this new version for my daughter. When I saw it on Audible I downloaded it so I could listen to the updated version, and I looked forward to hearing Vicki speak. <br/><br/>Vicki Robin is a great speaker, and you can tell she's passionate about the topic. Unfortunately, she only presents a very brief portion of the book. Her entire presentation is only 2.5 hours long, which was a huge disappointment for me.

Any additional comments?

I would have rated this volume all 5 stars if it was indeed the unabridged reading of the existing newest release of Your Money Or Your Life. It's more of a presentation about the book. Vicki Robin does explain each of the nine steps, but she doesn't read all of the text contained in the book.<br/><br/>I'm glad it was on sale.

Read the book instead

This audio is too short to even try to begin doing the original printed book justice. Spend your credit on another audio book.

Not as structured as the printed edition

Would you consider the audio edition of Your Money or Your Life to be better than the print version?

I tend to run towards the analytical side so I prefer the print version. It follows a structured organization when presenting each step. The audio version is more free form. The first half of the audiobook is the author explaining why she wrote it.

Have you listened to any of Vicki Robin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first Vicki Robin narrated audiobook. I thought she did fine with the given material. The book reads like a manual and Vicki brought more story and personality to the audio version.

What did you learn from Your Money or Your Life that you would use in your daily life?

When I don't track my spending closely, I spend a lot more than I think i do.

Recommend it to all

Simple steps to reach financial independence but lacking depth in investments, bonds and savings accounts in a near zero interest rate environment. Overall well done but in need of update on investments in current environment.

My absolute all-time favorite book about money and personal finance!

And the nice thing with this audio version is how perfectly succinct it is! You get all the gold nuggets of wisdom and how to gently put them to use in your own life in a couple bike rides and dog walks! Ms Robin's voice is also easy on the ear, like your favorite radio host, so this whole program goes down very easily. Well done and thank you!

Good read.

It was a good book with some realistic and not so realistic idea. I would recommend it.
