Critic reviews

"This worthy, engaging owner's manual on boys aged two to 22 is written from a reserved, supportive Christian perspective." ( Library Journal)

As a single mom of two boys, this books was very helpful. I listened to it on audible and plan to buy a paperback copy to look through as they grow.

Excellent

One of the best books out there on this topic in my opinion. I like the exact guiding tips and the references and recommendations of other literature.

Good concept, okay execution

I liked and agreed with the main ideas of the book. It did, however, have several statements peppered throughout that I felt were sexist and cemented the very stereotype of boys that we should be steering away from. We do need boys who are emotionally intelligent, but we shouldn't put them down for not being so. My husband listened to bits and pieces of it and when I asked him to listen to the whole thing, he said that from what he'd heard from it, he doesn't think he'd be able to get past the few dated opinions to be open to the other ideas.

I also felt that the way the narrator moved between the two psychologists was confusing and disruptive. I think it could've been executed better by having two narrators.

Highly recommend for anyone raising a boy

My favorite book about raising a son. As a women who was raised in a home without boys, this was a much needed book. I love how he clearly touches on al the different stages and doesn’t over simplify and assume all boys are exactly the same. I cannot think of a subject he didn’t touch on. My husband is also listening to it amd is really enjoying it and even learning about himself. Thank you for touching on even the most difficult subjects that so many are embarrassed to speak of. I am sure this is a book I will listen to repeatedly.

Two Boys

As a mom of two boys, one being 1.5 the other 3.5 years old I have to say this book is GOLD!! After I finished this book I shared it on social media to let the world know that this book is a fantastic listen/read. My husband listened to it shortly after me and the next thing I know he got us the paper back so that we could highlight our favorite parts! Highly recommended!

Loved it.

Excellent book. I will recommend it to all of my friends with sons. My 3 boys are still small so I know I'll be listening to this again in the future as they pass through the other stages.
