Publisher's summary

Some people feel they don't measure up to anyone's expectations. As a result, they tend to procrastinate, set unrealistic goals, or continually try to please others.

With the positive, no-nonsense strategies offered in When Your Best Isn't Good Enough, listeners can raise their low self-perception and overcome these feelings of rejection and inadequacy.

Working in his well-known, upbeat style, Dr. Kevin Leman helps those who struggle with self-doubt to value their talents and gifts and accept their shortcomings. He points out why the lifestyle we develop as a child determines our degree of success or failure and explains how, regardless of the past, each person can develop a healthy lifestyle today. Dr. Leman also shows readers how to apply these same principles in raising children with healthy self-esteem.

Therapy

I loved the voice of the reader, it was really engaging and it made me feel as if Kevin Lehman himself was reading the book! Also the information presented in the book made me feel like I was in my own private therapy sessions- it was extremely helpful and gave me the confidence and validation I needed to make more positive changes in my life.

Loved it! Great advice, great content.

I loved the book, I definitely recommend it. As a parent, I want to be able to spot any such patterns so I can help correct them in myself or my child.
And the narrator was great. Very lively. I felt like it could have been the author himself reading the book. i liked his intonation, very pleasant and engaging, not monotonous at all.

How to Overcome being a Perfectionist.

This book is a self help book, but an easy read. You do not have to have a degree in counseling in order to be able to apply the principles laid out to help you overcome the issue of being a perfectionist. An issue that most "first born" people usually have to deal with. I have shared this book with several of my friends because I also purchased the Kindle version as well. Love that feature about Audible and Kindle, don't you?

Christian Parenting Book

First of all, the guy is a great speaker and the recording is very clear, unlike many I have downloaded. However, I found the book spent WAY too much time on parenting. And I didn't agree with all of it either. There is some good material but I had to get past 2 hours of parenting to get to anything worthwhile. All in all, it wasn't very helpful.

So Encouraging!

I loved this book! So many great reminders that we need to look at ourselves in a positive way. Favorite part was when Dr. Leman compared each individual to snowflakes and traffic jams. Each person is unique and gifted individually. I hope I can continue to remember this when my depression slips down hill.

Life changing

While I personally may not fully agree with the more religious aspects in this book, I still believe this book (or at least a more secular version) should be required reading for high school. Wisdom like this usually takes a lifetime to learn and yet here it all is, ripe for the picking.

perfect for the High achiever.

really great for anyone who's ever struggled between setting goals and punishing yourself for not hitting every goal you said. I appreciate that the author gets down to the root, so there can be real healing
