Publisher's summary

The essence of meditation is not something we do; rather, it is simply to be, fully present and aligned with life in the moment. This is the central teaching of Eckhart Tolle’s What Is Meditation? In this audio session, Eckhart helps us transcend our beliefs and ideas about meditation—including the tendency to turn the practice into a means to an end—in order to realize directly our formless nature as being that is primary to any doing.

What Is Meditation? explores:

  • What your sitting practice can—and cannot—do for you.
  • Acknowledging the “pulling power” of thoughts.
  • Engaging with the reality of consciousness itself.
  • The arising of “space consciousness”—and how this opens us to joy, creativity, and peace.
  • Honoring life by saying yes to what is.

Whether you’ve struggled with meditation or you’re taking an interest in it for the first time, What Is Meditation? gives us a new understanding of why we practice—and an inspirational guide for making life itself our daily meditation.

Content is great, but the audience totally detracts from appreciation of the content. I wanted my own experience.

Liked the content, but not the format with audience laughing, cackling and coughing in the background.

Best for die-hard Tolle fans

I am a die-hard Tolle fan, so I enjoyed this lecture and have listened to it multiple times, but I would not consider it one of his best. It’s taped from a live lecture in which he seemingly did a bit of mugging for the audience, who greatly appreciated it (lots of laughter) but the facial expressions are lost on the Audible audience.

Eckhart Tolle at his funniest!

Park your preconceptions at the door, this guy will knock your soxs off. If you are learning to meditate, if you are interested in humor, if you are not yet a fan of Eckhart Tolle - this is the one to listen to after you listen to the "New Heaven and New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle.

So beautifully spoken

One cannot give a description of this wonderful talk. It is just to be simply listened to and lived in each moment. It will leave you with a deep inner smile.

OH MY God!!

You need to be warned (I wish I had been) This is really quite bizarre. It is not a book. It has obviously been taped at a live show because you can hear the audience (and the speaker )laughing, snickering throughout. This is just annoying because the jokes just dont cross over onto the recording. It is quite slow at times with big gaps between words and sentences (also boring) Bottom line is that it is very, very hard to listen to or to follow. I feel the title is very misleading. I considered listening again but dont know if I can because it was just so darn annoying and boring!!!! I really feel I must have missed something, this really is quite confusing. This is one hour and four minutes of my life that I will never get back. I have to add that this is written by a person that likes the authors books so maybe it comes down to buy the book not the recording. PS: I really am wondering about the one person who wrote a good review of this book but accept that everyone has their own opinion. You have been warned :-)
