Training the mind... Healing the body... Transforming your life

Over the past ten years, mind-body medicine has been revolutionizing the way we think about our health. Millions of people are discovering that their thoughts, their feelings, and their physical well-being are intimately connected - and this is transforming the way we eat, exercise, work, and even relate to one another.

During this program, you'll become thoroughly familiar with the philosophical foundations of mind body health care, you'll also learn how to:

  • Integrate the healing traditions of the East with the latest practical discoveries of Western science
  • Change the way you eat - or even when you eat - to create greater mental and physical energy
  • Sleep well every night
  • Identify what makes you uniquely different from anyone who has ever lived as well as what you share with all of humanity
  • Exercise better, not harder
  • Enter the silent spaces between your thoughts to create a rejuvenating sense of alertness
  • Understand how the process of disease really works, and how you can break the progression that leads to illness
  • Use your heart as well as your brain to make insightful choices and accurate life decisions
  • Increase your personal efficiency by discovering the best times of day for mental and physical activities
  • Discover the intimate connection between your physical body and your emotional and spiritual well-being

In the more than ten years that they've worked together, Dr. Simon and Deepak Chopra have developed a shared vision of what good health means and how to place it within the reach of every human being. Training the Mind, Healing the Body is the full realization of that vision.

Meditation exercises skipped

This is a great introduction to Ayurvedic principles. The recording is a compilation talks from a retreat and the tracks are split between two speakers. The only thing that could be improved is the flow. There are gaps that are a bit long. Which could be intentional but they aren't explained. Also, there is a meditation introduced but then not included in the recording.

Mind Blowing!

The first few chapters were written to form the premise that we are light and energy in a scientific manner. Once they established the premise, the authors were able to inform/educate their readers about the power within us to heal ourselves.
The rest of the book shared benefits of meditation, how to id our body type, and "treat" our bodies for a better health and ultimately more fulfilling life.

If you are are in a "rut" and are ready for a change, it starts with the way you think.

I highly recommend this book.

A very clarifying experience!

I love this book because it clearly explained the importance of taking care of our lives through meditation, the foods we eat, and everything that we put in our bodies. Living a life full of love and passion is what I learned from reading this book.I would recommend this book to anyone who desires to live a healthier and fuller lifestyle. Those that want to reach out for more in every aspect of their life by being aware of the now instead of worrying about the future and the past. I gave it this rating because the book really helped me to channel my energy in a more positive direction and live life with a lot more love and passion... Also, The importance of spirituality and being able to meditate at least twice a day which will help push you towards what you want out of life.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

What was most disappointing about Deepak Chopra and David Simon ’s story?

The sample you get in audiable is not who will be reading or talking about this lecture. It's a man with a very strong Indian accent. Maybe if I read the book it will be better.

Would you be willing to try another one of Deepak Chopra’s performances?

no

What character would you cut from Training the Mind, Healing the Body?

David Simon

Too wordy

Way too technical for me. Too Psychological for the lay person. I would not suggest to the average seeker looking enlightenment.

I had to return the book

Up till chapter 3, I have still no idea why Deepak is talking about how the mind and body works. He was still giving a world history of philosophy and science up to that point. I don’t really need all of these mumbo jumbo and theories, I want to know how to train the mind, I need practical examples!

Can’t really listen to this while driving either, when Deepak talks it requires full concentration in a dark room, doing nothing, and I don’t think this is actually his book, but based on a recording of one of his conventions or seminars.

I have more things and more info to absorb and my exams is a month away, I can’t possibly be finding insight after Chapter 7. Granted, there was some practical examples of meditating halfway after Chapter 3, but that took a while, and it was short and parse and not conducted by Deepak himself, not that it really matter to me who is conducting the meditation but it came to the point that the ‘other guy’ was way more interesting to listen to than Deepak.

A new way of thinking....

I purchased this audio to learn of alternative approaches to health and wholeness, and I was not disappointed. Although I will need to listen to this several times to glean the ideas more completely, I learned enough this first time to be challenged to do some life changes. This book is not for the faint of heart, as it requires the listener to be fully engaged. Well worth the time investment though for those who enjoy a challenge.

Beautifully Done

As someone that has been listening to Audibles on Self Awareness, Improvement and Actualization I can say this is at the top of my list. I've also been listening to a lot of material on meditations, mindsets, pineal gland activation, kundalini energy, chakra centers, crystal healing, radionics, sleep cycles... even magic. And, so far much of it has led me to most of what this program teaches. Part of the magic in life is living from the inside out while living a balanced life. Part of the fun in life is then creating your own life from a place of love and restoration. It's key to remember though that you can't give if you're empty inside. Take care of yourself first so that your whole. Then you can be the best you for yourself and others. There's deep peace and joy in that. Programs like this help tune one's very essence into the micro and macro energies that are active and always influencing our beings. You'll stumble and fall along the way but if you stay focused on improving who you are with a standing belief in God you will find Grace from many sources. Just remember to forgive yourself along the way. The self critic is more harmful than helpful. So like the Nike saying goes... Just Do It!
