Publisher's Summary

They're not so big in size, but their screams could burst eardrums and their habits can really drive you nuts. There is no need to dress these little monstrosities up in a devil's costume. That's right; we are here to discuss possibly the most talked about stage of child development that's right up there with the adolescent stage: the toddler stage. Cue the music for the Terrible Twos!

This book aims to serve as your one-stop-shop for advice and methods of dealing with some of the most pressing developmental and behavioral issues of this very important phase of your child's life.

The contents of this book include the following:

  • Information about all the physical changes your toddler is enduring.
  • Discussion about the many neurological developments that are occurring in your toddler's brain.
  • Learning how to think like a toddler so that you can interpret and understand the world like they do.
  • Tips, tricks, and hacks to getting through sleep training and potty training.
  • 7 techniques for effective toddler discipline.and much more....

This book is all about changing our mindsets not to necessarily think like our toddler(s), but to get on a level where you can not only assist them in proper healthy development but also truly get along with your child on a basis that not many parents ever get to. It is time to accept that your precious baby is no longer helpless. It is time to embrace your child's developments with other actions other than screaming back at them or becoming frustrated. I can tell you this book will not solve all your issues, for there will still be days you want to give up and leave your small child to defend for themselves. But this book will help you survive the "Terrible Twos", as well as even learn to enjoy your child while they are still this age. Your baby is growing up, and there is no slowing down.

changedmy outlook towards my kid...

Listening to this book has made home life so much better. The relationship isn't yelling and forcing, it's asking and talking. Highly recommend....

excellent guide..

Learning how to not pick up the gauntlet and keep myself calm has changed everything in my home. This is an excellent companion to a few other great parenting books such as Love and Logic and The Child Whisperer. But this one has been key in changing MY behavior.it

good

I do marriage and family therapy, and this is a book I recommend to clients often. It is a great guide to understanding how relationships with your parents impact your own parenting. There are brief activities for reflection, which is perfect. This book can get tough to read, which makes sense as Dan Siegel is a brilliant researcher, but is worth it.

must listen to it ....

I really found this useful. I wish I had gotten it in print as I would have tabbed it. Also, the cartoons are difficult to read in the Kindle version. I do want to go back and show them to my son (they have chapter summaries to share with your kids). The red/green/blue zone idea was key to breaking through a barrier I was facing with my son. I plan to read their other books and I hope they are as good as this one is.

great lesson

This book gives incredible insight into parenting. As a mom I found myself at times second-guessing and wondering if I was doing the absolute best thing for my little one. I discovered the only way that I could find out is if I could learn a little bit more about how my toddler behaves and thinks. Dr. Klein is beyond insightful and her decades of experience with toddlers is evident in this book. This is such a great read, if this is the only book you find time to read you will be so grateful to have found it!

great book

I'm reading it as a Grandparent and gave a copy to my daughter. I love the insightfullness and the way Tavoh explains each instance. Easy to apply to and we have so much fun together now I know how to just enjoy everything they are going through...even a trantrum!!!

great book changed my life

Only days after starting the methods in this book our 2, almost 3 year old started sleeping through the night after 2, almost 3 years of of waking up every 2 hours. It is a miracle! I am starting to get my mind back. I can be more of the parent I hope to be. My sweet little girl is no longer having daily tantrums (I thought it was her age, but it was her sleep deprivation!).

good

I borrowed this book from the library after hearing the author on NPR, then bought two copies after that (one for me, one as a replacement when I gave that copy away) . I really like that her work is based on research and not simply opinion. It gave me a good idea of what "normal" toddler behavior was, and why it is that way. Also, at the end of the book there is a list that is like a "cliff notes" version of the book, summing up all her major points, which is helpful for a quick reference. Highly recommend it.

highly recommended

I recommend that anyone living the long, hard days with a toddler read this book. Mostly to know you aren't alone, but also to ease the pain, just a little, of raising a toddler. The author is brilliant and hilariously honest. I screen shotted so many pages and sent them to my husband who responded, "Wow, other parents go through this s*** too, huh?"

This book is an invaluable resource for parents. We have an especially strong-willed child and nothing except for RIE principles have worked for her.

This is the perfect for when you've had a long, stressful day and have just gotten your screaming child to sleep and just need someone who understands.
