Publisher's summary

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Patanjali explores yoga fundamentals, one of the six orthodox philosophies of the Hindu religion, and is revered as one of the greatest texts of the practice of yoga. Comprised of 196 aphorisms dating back to 400 CE, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is divided into four chapters that explore the blissful state, the practice, the manifestation, and the liberation stages of yoga. The text includes the yamas, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi poses.

The philosophy has influences in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism thought, but can be applied to anyone's practice of meditation and yoga. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is an important and profound accompaniment to novices and accomplished yogis alike, as they delve deeper into the philosophy behind the practice.

Out Dated Warped Modern Christian Rehash

If you want to read Pantanjali, do that. If you want to read the New Testament, Do that. If you want to read Stephan W Hawking, do that. This is none of the above and so dated and scientifically naive that after a well intentioned start it becomes a train wreck. Now, if you want a 19th century paper on Christian Ideology, Compared and contrasted with selected verses from Pantanjali, by Anonymous, this is your book. I happen to be a Christian Yogi, but this is not as advertised
or what I paid for, it does both a disservice as currently packaged and sold.

Interesting study, rough narration.

While the presentation of this philosophy was quite interesting to review, the narrator was somewhat questionable.
Ron's voice is solid, and his inflections reasonable, but some of his pronunciations made me wonder if English was a second language for him. The first few completely incorrect pronunciations gave me pause, but towards the end I couldn't help looking at my Bluetooth speaker and asking, "Really???"

I think Patanjali would vomit.

It's like it's 99.9 % crap and 0.1% sutras. I regret that I purchased this version.

Very Calming

I really liked this audiobook, but if I may suggest you don’t listen while getting ready for bed if you want the full benefit.
Lulled me to sleep so very nicely, I didn’t want to get up in the morning 😜

horrible narration

the book is ancient and the translation sounds adequate. the narrator makes no effort to pronounce the words properly and liberally uses the fake annoying "shtr" pronunciation for the "str" syllable. pathetic.

Accented Vowels

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I enjoyed the message but the narrator elongated his vowels. I found that I was listening more to see which words he would pronounce without elongation more than I was listening to the message of the book.

What did you like best about this story?

There are some great basic concepts of attitude needs in order to be successful in life and to feel successful.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ron Welch’s performances?

No

Could you see The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I cannot see it being made into a movie or TV series.

Slightly hard to follow....

But intellectually worth it. There were some spots that I had to listen to a couple of times but I have been interested in spirituality for a while and this book did increase my knowledge. Ron Welch did a fine job as usual

Unique perspective worthy of thought

Clear, intelligent interpretation of this time honored classic. Different, but nothing askew in the relationship to modern philosophical and religious thought. Enjoyed the pace and content of this rendition.
