It seems that the publisher pushed for this to be a certain minimum length. The first four and half chapters are filled with repetition and often seemed like an info-mercial - filled with teasers about what they were going to tell you later, but very little real insight. These chapters could have easily been condensed into one introduction section, maybe 15 minutes max.
Beginning near the end of Chapter 5, the content became useful and I gained more insight than I had on a different voice training cd I listened to years ago.

This is a remarkable audio book. It helped me obtain a more pleasant voice; I learned to project the voice to sound better and livelier. Besides voice training, the author couches throughout the tape to help listeners sound more confident. My wife noticed right away that I had improved my hoarse voice. I saved the money I was planning to spend in a speech therapist. Great all over.

English is my 2nd language, I bought this book because I realized my voice and spoken English had prevented me from pursuing many oppertunities. This book give me much-needed information on how to improve voice clarity, projection, intonation, smoothness and how to deal with voice difficulties. After only a few weeks, now I feel that people, who are in communication with me, are far less likely to ask me to repeat myself or stare at me blankly.

Im spanish and the book helped me learn how to assess my voice objectively and how to look for speech patterns that i could control. I learned about pychological energy vitality and tonal support. I recommend this audio book for anyone who is interested in mastering this skill of language and for those working in US business settings.

Excellent self improvement material for native and non-native speakers of English. Second best only to having one-on-one private sessions with Dr. Fleming!

Any additional comments?
This book is extremely out dated. Painfully so. None the less... it has allot of really good information in it. Very helpful, everyone needs learn this stuff.

The book is good. Maybe needs a new edition that's not from the 80s. It seems a bit dated when the authors talks about how to use a hifi tape recorder.

Really enjoyed this audiobook. It's concise has examples and can be humorous at times. Very practical steps to make you more aware of your voice!
This book really helped me to improve the way I speak. It defines the correct way to speak so that you can be easily understood.
Only part way through this and already very impressed. While it was made for North American audiences the techniques and advice are transferable to Europe and the UK. It has one major flaw which may not be obvious to American ears. Dr Fleming uses an associate with an English accent that is seldom heard anywhere nowadays and sounds very much like a parody of what an 'English gentleman' might have sounded like in the early 20th century.
