Publisher's summary

Practical steps to embrace God's mission for single Dads.

Conventional wisdom holds that fathers have few parenting skills and that mothers always know best. The single father is often considered a mythical creature, found only in sitcoms as an object of humor or pity. Where does that leave real single dads? Too often, it makes them susceptible to overcompensation or apathy. Tez Brooks knows those feelings all too well. He's traveled that road with his own children after an unexpected divorce. The Single Dad Detour is the result of his journey and the lessons he's learned along the way. It's a guidebook for the rocky road of single fatherhood, extending encouragement, confidence, and challenges, using specific examples from dads who've survived parenting and have hope to offer. There are no unreachable requirements for perfect fatherhood here and no twisty theological mysteries - just authentic, down-to-earth wisdom from one dad to another.

An often overlooked segment of society

The loyal, dedicated and hard working single father. We need more books, guidance, wisdom, and resources for men like us who find ourselves in an upended world when marriages fail. Thank you. This book helped me to feel that I wasn't alone, and addressed many doubts, fears and guilt I felt as a Christian who believes in the sacrament of marriage, and the complex soul crushing questions and fears that come with divorce.

Thank you
Patrick W

Not just for single dads

Awesome book and excellent narrator. While single dads may benefit most From this extremely well written, honest, and insightful look at the struggles for single fathers, anyone in ministry to men (or who want to better understand) would also benefit. Lots of great stuff for any parent.

I have a friend whose wife left for another.

This was a review on my part to find the best book for my friend, who is a father of two, a boy and a girl. The best full coverage on every level for his situation. Each Story fits all the emotions this dad is facing. Lets you realize you are not alone in this messed-up situation.
