The follow-up to her million-copy best seller

The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, Dr. Laura focuses on both partners in the relationship and reveals how to bring marriage back from the brink of disaster

Jumping off her million-copy best seller The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, Dr. Laura now exposes the sensitive and loving truth in appreciating the polarity between masculine and feminine in order to produce and sustain a wonderfully satisfying marriage in The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriages. Both husband and wife have power in the relationship, and each needs to realize this in order to ensure personal satisfaction. Using real-life examples from her call-in radio show, and giving real-life solutions, Dr. Laura focuses on the typical mistakes made by men and women in their relationships, and shows how marriages can come back from the brink of disaster and divorce.

Very Helpful

Would you listen to The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage again? Why?

I am listening to it again right now. It is a book I will go back to when I feel like I need to be reminded of the advice given.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

What does Lily LoBianco and Dr. Laura Schlessinger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can listen to it along with my husband rather than both of us reading the book separately. The narration was great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me feel relieved actually.

Any additional comments?

This book was extremely helpful, something we were actually happy to hear. The last thing we wanted to do was try to learn all of these special words we should say to each other, walking on eggshells was not what we needed. It is straightforward and honest and helped us realize what we were doing wrong without any covert language. Loved it and am thankful for it!

Don't feel bad

From a guys perspective I felt an overwhelming sense of appreciation for the love of my life after listening to this book.

The main point I took from it is that your spouse is supposed to be the one person you can confide in without hesitation, and you are to love respect them as if they were a direct gift from God himself (as they are!).

Also that happiness has everything to do with your attitude and how you confront any given situation, it's not created by circumstance, or by some 'lucky break'.

I really enjoyed it, especially learning about the opposite sex's "Likes" and "Dislikes" it was illuminating and profoundly changed how I approach my spouse.

If you realize you're doing something that may be hurting your spouse, don't feel bad, just step up to the plate and be the spouse you know they would love. I did, and I love being that man for her.

Great insight and a eye opener!

This book made me realize, as women, we get wrapped up in our feelings so much so that we tend to forget the people that we love and respect the most, especially when they only want the best for you.

This book makes you a slave to abusive husbands

This books wants you to be a slave to abusive husbands. It wants you to put your own feelings and desires aside to please your man. I have been married 36 years. I have taken ever type of verbal lashings my husband seen fit to dish out on me everyday. This book says stay with your man for the sake of the children. Unfortunately I did listen to this book. We now have grown adults who are making the same mistakes in their marriage, now I get to deal with broken adults, broken marriages and screwed up grandkids because I did not leave my marriage when the kids were young I hung on to hope my man would change if I gave him sex everyday if I sucked his dick on a regular basis, if I waited on him and put him first. I prayed, I fasted, I worked hard at being the “good” wife all while hiding the misery inside. I have left my husband after 36 years, I am healthier then I have been in years, I do not live in physial pain, I am free to educate myself. I love me again. My head is more clearer then ever. Now I get to deal with a husband who has a large ego and pride along with amnesia on how he mentally and verbally abused his family. This man say there is no such abuse. That he can say anything he wants to me, it’s how I accept his words is up to me. He says he can talk trash on me 24/7, that I am mentally unstable if I let it bother me. I chose to leave that environment. Ladies if the man continues to treat you like trash, take a stand do not show your daughters it’s ok for a man to walk over you and treat you like trash. You are not trash you are a diamond and you deserve to live with peace you and your children.

An Angry Old Woman

This book is all about an angry old woman complaining about society and feminism. It has no beneficial content. This book takes only a negative perspective and does a lot of political and societal bashing. You'll love it if you are against feminism, but it won't help your marriage.
