Publisher's Summary

This is a book summary of The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg. Get more book summaries at getflashnotes.com

Original book description:

In The Power of Habit, Pulitzer Prize-winning business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. Distilling vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives that take us from the boardrooms of Procter & Gamble to sidelines of the NFL to the front lines of the civil rights movement, Duhigg presents a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential. At its core, The Power of Habit contains an exhilarating argument: The key to exercising regularly, losing weight, being more productive, and achieving success is understanding how habits work. As Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Save Yourself a Few Weeks

I started the full audiobook for this title, and the excessive storytelling caused me to return it. I got about 3 hours into the book and 2 hours and 45 minutes of it were stories. This summary gives you all of the actionable steps from the book in half an hour.

Would you listen to The Power of Habit, by Charles Duhigg: Book Summary again? Why?

I sort of have the gist of this information, from my own research. I did want a good overview of the book. That's what this book did and it did it well.

Dean Bokhari is an excellent job narrator.

Dean does a great job of narrating this phenomenal and ground breaking book into a well rounded abstract on the power of habit.

Great 25 minutes

Sometimes you just don’t have the energy to tackle a long book; business books in particular can have one or two great ideas backed by 100s of forgettable, non-actionable support. This book gave me a great summary and call to action; it did so quickly and effectively. Good job!
