Parent Investment

Please invest in your child by taking the time to read/listen this book. As the father of a 2.5 year old rambunctious son, I needed what this book had to say.

Very Helpful

Even if you know what to do, you usually have some doubt as to if what you are doing is correct, or if you should make even the smallest alteration. This book is just as great for those that don't know what to do, as it is for those that already use discipline and just wanting confirmation that they are applying it correctly.

EVERY Parent Needs This Book!

Do you really want what's best for your child? It's a confusing world out there these days with all of the new age studies "proving" (emphasis on the quotes) new methods of parenting. Help yourself get unconfused by relying on thousands of years of wisdom of biblical based parenting.

Discipline is too often confused with harshness or oppression. Discipline is love and kids do better with it than they ever will without it. This book tells you simply the value of discipline and how to successfully implement it.

Wow this is good

I just have to say I am loving this book. I wanted to share it with other parents because I believe it hits the nail right on the head. I have a hard copy if anyone wants to borrow it, being a busy mom I hardly had time to actually sit down and read it so instead I've been listening to it on my drive to and from work. There are so many things in this book that are typical to my family both good and bad and this book clearly defines how to find a solution to an issue such as an 8 year old girl who doesn't like to hear the word no and whines when she does not saying any names Ava..... I had many epiphanies while listening to this book and one that I wish I would have come to much sooner. My mother while all mothers made many mistakes after listening to this book I had an epiphany moment where I realized my mom was so hard on me not because she didn't like me or she was trying to be mean, it was because she loved me. It takes so much more work to discipline your child and to tell your child no and put forth the physical action it takes to teach them right from wrong than it is to say yes yes yes and let them do what they please. When I look back now and think about what I thought was harsh disciplinary actions and hate my mom took it was because I was a brat and I absolutely deserved it because she loves me too much to see me act that way. I recommend this book to anyone who has questions on how to discipline what type of discipline should you use for different situations and why it is so important to discipline. Thank you to my mom in heaven for being hard on me I know now it was Because You Loved Me and I thank you so much true that.By the way one thing that I learned that will stick with me forever is ....yelling and screaming is not considered a form of a disciplinary action it's quite the exact opposite. A disciplinary action is an actual physical notion whether it be to make them physically sit in timeout ,physically clean and do chores, physically spank them on the butt or upper thigh or squeeze behind the neck shoulder muscles. These are just a few examples but for those who are against spanking I use the analogy Dobson did.....God gave us pain and the sense of feeling so we can learn what things will harm us,... like a child touching a hot stove and burning their finger that caused them pain so they will probably not do it again... the same goes when you physically spank your child when a child associate a misbehavior with pain they are less likely to do it again. Of course physical discipline is not always necessary and is not the correct discipline for certain types of misbehavior it's only designated for the worst behaviors.I always had a hard time with that one and always feeling guilty and terrible after spanking Ava but this really makes me feel a lot better about it. This is just a small portion of how awesome this book is I really can't emphasize the different types of discipline I never even realized the categories of discipline and the categories Miss behaviors it just is awesome

I Should Have Read This 5 Years Ago!

I highly recommend this book for all parents, preferably before they have their first child! I was raised with Dr. Dobson’s principles and now I’m doing my best with my own children. This is the handbook to wise discipline and great encouragement for love and relationships with your children. The audio book was easy to listen to and I definitely recommend it!
