Publisher's summary

"One of the most admired men in the world of seduction" ( The New York Times) teaches average guys how to approach, attract, and begin intimate relationships with beautiful women.

For every man who always wondered why some guys have all the luck, Mystery, considered by many to be the world's greatest pickup artist, finally reveals his secrets for finding and forming relationships with some of the world's most beautiful women. Mystery gained mainstream attention for his role in Neil Strauss' New York Times best-selling expose The Game. Now he has written the definitive handbook on the art of the pickup.

He developed his unique method over years of observing social dynamics and interacting with women in clubs to learn how to overcome the guard shield that many women use to deflect come-ons from "average frustrated chumps".

His tips include:

  • Give more attention to her less attractive friend at first, so your target will get jealous and try to win your attention.
  • Always approach a target within three seconds of noticing her. If a woman senses your hesitation, her perception of your value will be lower.
  • Don't be picky. Approach as many groups of people in a bar as you can and entertain them with fun conversation. As you move about the room, positive perception of you will grow. Now it's easy to meet anyone you want.
  • Smile. Guys who don't get laid, don't smile.

Extract the elements you need. Ignore the rest.

Listen to the sample to determine if you'll have a problem with the narrator--I didn't mind his tone at all. He's a narrator, reading, and simply passing info on to me.

As for the content, it was either EXACTLY what I needed, or it was taught in a very convincing way. I, like many others, am rather put-off by the gimmicky games and condescending attitude toward women. So I disregarded that fluff. But there is tons of material that I GREATLY appreciated--How to open a conversation with multiple women...cold, how to stimulate their *emotions* and not fall into banal chatter, how to win the respect of your "target's" friends first, how to entertain and engage a woman or women in conversation regardless of your intentions, what indicators of interest to watch for, how to ask for contact info, etc.

I've read The Game and listened to this audiobook twice, and started to "get it." True story: I knew something was changing in me when I was with friends at a bar, saw three cute ladies (about 10 yrs younger than me) talking amongst themselves. I left my friends and started a conversation with all three of them. (One of my friends pulled me aside and said, "What are you DOING?") My opener was a true, honest topic that I composed a few minutes before speaking with them--and they were VERY interested in responding with their opinions. Two hours later, I had the email address of the cutest one of the bunch. :-) For me, this was UNREAL.

Interesting to Listen to as a Woman

I decided before I re-enter the "dating" world at 45, I'd like a peek into a man's mind of what he's thinking when he's practicing his "game" out in the "field". This book has given me great laughs and some intereting tips to share with my good friends on how to enjoy the dating game. I recommend it as a light listen to women who want to know more about possibly why they are attracted to certain men, and not others. This book is not intended for women - but if the "game" is about catching me, as a woman I want to know the rules you think I'll play by. Very interesting - don't agree with it all, but a real eye opener.

    Narrator ruins it

I totally agree with the other review--the narrator totally ruins this audiobook. I'm trying to think of how to describe his tone--it's somewhat a cross between condescending, patronizing. Almost like I was getting the used car salesman schtick.

I have both the hardcopy and audiobook; the audio so I could listen to while travelling.. and I have to say that I don't look forward to listening to it.

Mystery is "The Man" when it comes to this stuff, and his writing is good--seeing him in field is incredible. Why Mystery didn't narrate his own book is beyond me.

So yes this is a worth read, especially if you want to learn more about the MM, M3 model, etc. But get/read the book instead. Trust me, the narrator is horrible.

How to win flesh and influence women

Women don't understand themselves, yet the demand of 'understanding them' is placed on the men who would pursue them. This has always been the difficulty. Though I have been out of the dating game for a long time, I found this information very useful into how women react to certain techniques. Yes, this centers around dating but one can easily apply it to a workplace dynamic. I do not think it applies that well to marriage because if you play these games with a wife, she will just think you're an A hole. A few of the early reviews said they disliked the narrator. Did we listen to the same audiobook? This narrator is spot-on.

    wow i'm prepared

This was a great book to hear. The speaker really gets into the material. I would recommend this book to anyone that has trouble introducing them self's to people. Even if your married. This is about 3 hours dating advice and 4 hours of how to pure network and meet people. I use this book info at both the local bar and when i go to real estate conferences to introduce my self to groups and sets. This is amazing book of facts and techniques, for dating and picking up a SO.

    Get ready to take notes

I didn't want to get this book at first because I've read The Game, and it makes Mystery's method sound very gimmicky. Well, it is gimmicky but there are a lot of good ideas in it. Sometimes you just have to interpret the theories and their explanations to get the most value out of it.

I agree and disagree with the other reviews regarding the narrator. He hams it up quite a bit, but he does a good job of sounding like he knows and practices the material. It helps to have someone being a little cocky when they're telling you how to pickup women like a rockstar, because that's the kind of attitude you should have when using the method.

    Overall great book.

    A useless nonstop pitch

Not sure how this guy considers himself a teacher. If you were to gut this book of the excess and get to the nuts and bolts you would be left with about 20% of what is written. Through out Mystery doesn’t seem to understand that as a reader you have paid money and therefore do not need more convincing or a sales pitch. The first 2-3 chapters are just a waste of time in selling you a book you have already purchased. The rest is abstract theory with little actual demonstration. For example he constantly talks about how important breaking the ice is (opening a set) but doesn’t actually give any examples beyond the same one to two lines. It’s like a book on calculus that refuses to provide actual equations. Again and again the narrative oscillates between actual instruction to something of a continual brag. There is also this constant idea that as a PUA you are not manipulating but “influencing” women. This is true in the same way that someone who builds a maze for a mouse is not manipulating it but influencing it. It’s a self serving work full of bull crap misogyny, inflated and invented vocabulary, and a dash of actual useful information. Also the rare and few examples given are so trite, cliche, and dated that they would result only in embarrassment if actually deployed. Sure your aging uncle may have pulled in the ladies but is it really wise to dust off his 20+ years old clothes and techniques for today? Probably not. Big pass on this book. It’s a useless sales brochure.

    The narrator is good!

There are so many comments here about the narrater that I almost didn't download MM. I am glad I did. If you want subtle narration, go to the history section. This audio wouldn't work without a little license from the narrator. The content and delivery are entertaining. If you are so uptight that this narrator really bugs you, then MM is definitely not for you; which is good for the rest of us. If you'll escuse me, I need to go work on my game and peacock a little.

    Nerdy approach to dating

Written by a good looking guy (see vids on you tube) for an audience of geeks. I guarantee "mystery" has no problem getting women without his method. First half of the book contains sound principles, but it turns into a video game-type approach to dating. Which requires to master series of combos to be successful. It's just like playing Tekken. I am not saying it doesn't work. I am just too lazy to learn all the moves.
