Publisher's summary

Most of us know we own too much stuff. We feel the weight and burden of our clutter, and we tire of cleaning and managing and organizing. While excess consumption leads to bigger houses, faster cars, fancier technology, and cluttered homes, it never brings happiness. Rather, it results in a desire for more. It redirects our greatest passions to things that can never fulfill, and it distracts us from the very lives we wish we were living. But it doesn't have to be this way.

In The More of Less, Joshua Becker helps you:

  • Recognize the life-giving benefits of owning less
  • Realize how all the stuff you own is keeping you from pursuing your dreams
  • Craft a personal, practical approach to decluttering your home and life
  • Experience the joys of generosity
  • Learn why the best part of minimalism isn't a clean house; it's a full life

It's time to own your possessions instead of letting them own you. After all, the beauty of minimalism isn't in what it takes away. It's in what it gives.

Good Info, but Needs Different Narrator

the information offered in the book is good. however the authors should have chosen someone else to narrate this work. The author's narration is extremely aggravating because he tends to drop the last syllable of most sentences,

Nothing I hadn't Known Already

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would say that this book could be dropped by an hour of time. The message does make sense and if you are already a clean person and view yourself as a investor as oppose to a consumer you probably wouldn't need to listen to this book. If for some reason you are the person who can't throw things away and find yourself buying things constantly you could probably benefit from this book.

Life changing.

Becker's obviously not the first to write on this topic, but this book is clear, well written, with step by step instructions on how not to be overwhelmed by the early tasks of reducing the clutter. He also includes motivation on why to replace all that stuff and its maintenance with service to others.

Preachy but Some Good Messages

Listened to this while decluttering. Author had some good reminders. This book is definitely a repeat of ideas if you listen to a lot of minimalist or decluttering books. But again...good reminders.

Author encouraged donating money saying Americans are one of the richest countries but failed to mention the debt people are burdened by and the ever-increasing cost of living. It's easy to give away money when you got some. There were other parts of the book that were too church.

Great and simple

The book is straight forward about minimalism and its importance. In addition, provide structured guides to pursue it. Finally, it has a soft Christian touch that only enrich this great and simple book.

Yes, please!

I highly advise anyone and everyone to get this book, or at least some variation of a book about minimalism. While I don't plan on going "full out minimalist" I do (and already started) plan to implement a lot of the practices talked about in here. It's informative, it answered every question I thought about while listening, and it make perfect sense! Do yourself and you clutter a favor- buy it, read it, and live it!
