Publisher's summary

The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous, & Broke is financial expert Suze Orman's answer to a generation's cry for help. They're called "Generation Debt", people in their 20s and 30s who graduate from college with a mountain of student loan debt and are stuck with one of the weakest job markets in recent history, yet they're painfully aware of the urgent need to take matters into their own hands.

The Money Book was written to address the specific financial reality that young people face today. Suze Orman tells her young, fabulous, and broke listeners precisely what actions to take and why. Her advice at times bucks conventional wisdom (Did she just say use your credit card?) and may even seem counterintuitive (Pay into a retirement fund even though your credit card debt is killing you?), but it's her honesty, understanding, and uncanny ability to anticipate the needs of her readers that have made her the most trusted financial expert of the day.

Suze takes listeners past broke, to a secure place where they'll never have to worry about revisiting broke again. And she begins the journey with a bit of overwhelmingly good news (yes, there really is good news): Young people have the greatest asset of all on their side - time.

Critic reviews

"Downright useful... Orman takes on the financial woes of the under-thirty-five crowd in this how-to book that tackles the mystery behind credit ratings, when to finance your dream business with credit-card debt, and how to talk to your boyfriend about his check-bouncing habit." (Publishers Weekly)

"The first to target teens and twentysomethings, and she adapts her message appropriately, offering 'The Lowdown' on topics from credit scores to career moves to consolidating school debt." (Newsweek)

"Written in a noncondescending manner, and Orman modifies some of the suggestions she has made for her older readers." (New York Post)

I really enjoyed the advice. It was eye opening!

I enjoyed the break down about buying major items like a car, and a home. Also, about saving money. As well as paying off debt.

Great information for a young person

I love Suze Orman! She considers life is a struggle and doesn't pressure you to cut everything off or do something extreme like cut up all of your credit cards. Great advice and steps for those who want to be financially responsible but don't know where to start.

Great Advise As A Single Mom, Shared with My Daughter

I am a single Mom that always dream of providing the best for my kids when they were babies; I made it but unfortunately without this great advise.
Now, I am 47 years old catching up to this dream and having the fortune to share this book with my 25 year old daughter.
I am confident that I am giving her the tools to succeed with this book.

Thank you Suze for such an easy to understand and complete book, full of advice in every aspect of our lives. Can't ask for any better than that.

Amazing book, great introduction.

I am 23 now and this book was excellent for me. It gives a solid advice on credit, investing, savings, and more. Also, the information really is aimed at people in early stages of their adult lives.

The rate of presentation is excellent. It is jam packed with advice but I didn't feel overwhelmed. I do wish I had a notebook while I was listening to jot down important points, but I was in a car. Nonetheless, I retained many of the concepts from just listening once. I will listen again.

Suze Orman is a charming reader and the book is very listenable. I am so glad I found this one; the knowledge will have a big impact on my life.

Fabulous!

OMG! Suze came across like a big sister, mom and best friend. The best part though, is she's smarter than all those people in my life! This book provided me with principles I can use today, tomorrow and forever. I'm grateful!
