Publisher's Summary

Dr. Gary Chapman believes you have a God-given yearning for complete and unconditional love. But you'll never be able to express it, or receive it, until you learn to speak the right "love" language. The Five Love Languages for Singles reveals how different personalities express love in different ways. In fact, there are five specific languages of love:

  • Quality Time
  • Words of Affirmation
  • Gifts
  • Acts of Service
  • Physical Touch

Gary Chapman's first best-selling book, The Five Love Languages, has already connected with more than three million readers. Now he tailors that message to meet the unique needs of singles, using real-life examples and anecdotes taken from his 30 years of interaction with single adults.

Whether you are young or old, widowed, divorced, separated, or never married, these proven principles of communicating and receiving unconditional love can apply in all your relationships, including friends, coworkers, classmates, or roommates.

    "Digressing too much"

The original Love Languages book was better - pretty clear without too much digression. I had hoped this version would be directed more at every other aspect of life, including work, friends, and family, but it focuses on dating, as opposed to married, people and only sprinkles in other relations in the end of the book.

Furthermore, this version spends too much time off topic conveying religious and political ideals. It distracts from the otherwise splendid idea and moves away from the original anthropological research that emotional language spans several cultures and nations.

It still contains the framework of five languages, but I didn't get more facets out of this book than the original. That is too bad, because it could really have been great.

I would recommend this book to a heterosexual, monogamous, and conservative Christian who is in a dating relationship and would like to understand why s/he and the partner react in certain ways.

    "Fantastic!"

Very good listen and well read, too. It was very helpful in learning about the love languages of myself and those around me; I'm sure I'll be much more aware of how I'm loving myself and other people in the near future!

    "Simple Doctrine"

I listened to this after some emotional turmoil and it gave me the sliver of hope that I needed to come out of the pit that I was in. My emotional state determines my mental clarity and this book calmed me and gave me the tools to comprehend the language that I use to communicate love. It helped me to understand me. It will help me understand my partner.

So then I could show the right kind of love to my family and friends! my family loves having me around I'm me patient and loving to everyone I even found someone that fills my love tank completely. We dated in high school friend a short time and over the years have thought of each other and have reconnected I'm not sure what his love language is quite yet but I'm getting there and I don't think I would ever understood things the way I do now thank you Gary Chapman for your whole series of "the five love languages"

    "If you read the original"

This book has widely more information than the original book does and goes a little into what sounds like Dale Carnigie’s how to win friends and influence people, in the final chapter. Highly recommend.
