Publisher's summary

Are you tired of being unproductive, of wasting so much time on distractions you don't even enjoy, of always putting things off until the last minute?

Are you ready to go from procrastination to productivity, to stay energized and focused throughout the day, to feel that satisfying sense of accomplishment at the end of the day?

Time is no less than your actual life, yet it's so easy to throw it away on junk TV, mindless Internet surfing, or procrastinating with things you want to do and know you should do.

Productive people don't have any more time in their days than you do, and they certainly aren't busier than you are. The main difference is focus. A productive person has a way to cut through life's clutter and nonsense and make sure that most of his or her efforts go to the good stuff - fulfilling work, relationships, self-improvement...anything he or she values, really.

Productivity isn't about becoming a superefficient superhuman (although, if that's your goal - great!) but rather making more efficient use of the resources and skills you already have.

In this book, we're not going to be doing any magic tricks. No quick fixes here. But what we will be doing is becoming more aware of time and how to use it smartly, managing energy and resources, finding out true priorities, and dealing with procrastination and laziness once and for all.

one of my favourite series

I think this is a great read for those who are just off-track in their lives; a great way to kind of evaluate your life as a whole. If you notice a lack of motivation and productivity, this book does a great job of giving you steps to facilitate that change.

Well written and thought-provoking. Not preachy, just informative and enlightening.

Excellent no-BS resource on procrastination

This book will help you to stop procrastinating by having you understand where this behaviour, to avoid doing what you should do, comes from in the first place. Once you understand, you'll be able to find ways that work for you, instead of fighting yourself endlessly and trying to get things done by sheer willpower and discipline, both of which are exhausting and no fun at all.

Unique approach to productivity

I don't have much discipline and often give up before even trying, but this approach, having a small and realistic task every day works for me. All the small changes and activities really add up after 1+ weeks and I'm getting way more done. Cannot recommend this series enough!

does improve productivity

The main thing I liked about this book as I listened to it is how interactive it is. The author regularly suggests that the listener do or consider various things throughout the main text, and each chapter ends with a 'challenge' which asks the listener to do a specific task (such as making a certain type of list, or turning off the internet for a half hour). With most books, you get something out of them simply by listening; here, you do as well, but you get even more out of it by doing things. (Which makes sense, of course, because doing things more efficiently is what the book is about.)

I would very much recommend this book for anyone who wants to improve the speed, efficiency, and effectiveness of what they do every day. Even if you feel like you want to, but you're not sure that you want to put the effort into it, I'd still recommend it, because you might decide you'd like to give certain things a try as you listen. I found the advice the book gives to be sound, reasonable, and practical. A careful inspection of the 'read inside' tab at the top of the Amazon page is recommended, more so than for most books, to get a sense of the style, method, and pacing of the book, and the kind of things it recommends the listener do as the book progresses.
