Decent book, but horrid narration

Would you try another book from Meg Meeker and/or Karen White?

No, both Meg Meeker books I've tried have had horrible narrators

What did you like best about this story?

Many of the points are true

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Condescending, overly dramatic, and extremely annoying tone that detracts significantly from the content

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not

Very eye opening

I have 5 and 7 year old boys who keep me very busy. This book allowed me to understand so many of the feelings that I was having. It allowed me to know that I’m not alone in them also.

Barely made it to the end

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Unfortunately, I was really struggling to listen to the end. The book itself was 3 star but the narrator make it very hard to listen.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Sorry but I think Karen White over dramatized the story and I needed exactly the opposite. It was hard to listen. I felt like I was a little child listing to a well intentioned parent talking down to me.

Did The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers inspire you to do anything?

I found few great lessons from the book but the overall was just alright.

I'm a guy, so...

I read this book to get some insight into my wife and her thoughts as a mom. Great book and helped us have some conversation points. It also gave me ideas on where to encourage her as a mother. It's a must read and a must implement!

Recommend the book but had hard time listening to

Enjoyed the content of this book. Dr. Meeker shares some great tips and stories throughout the book. My favorite part was the ways to make each habit stick offered at the end of each chapter.
I was not particularly thrilled with the voice and meter of the reader, however. Because the content was so good and timely for my current stage of life, I pushed through it.

A must read for every mom

Such a wonderful explanation of what a mother should truly be concerned with to remain fulfilled. Being raised in Christianity with many friends I found it hard to get past the first chapter because I already had naturally incorporated many of these habits into my life. As I listened I gained insight into exactly why these habits are so important and made them more of a priority in my heart and mind as a mother and a woman. Now I'd love to see one for Dad's! thank you Meg for your crumbs of wisdom!

Not impressed

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I waited a long time to read this book, so I tried to multitask and listen to it instead. Absolutely the wrong thing to do. White's narration was terrible. She consistently emphasized the wrong points and had a whiny voice to it. She may be ok for other types of fiction, but not for a self-help type book. It seems like some ideas and points took her by surprise, thus the insufficient enunciations, emphasis, etc. Her voice quickly got on my nerves. I'll try reading the book instead.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Didn't make it to the ending.

Would you be willing to try another one of Karen White’s performances?

No, absolutely not.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers?

I made it through the part about her wonderful friend Patricia. Great story, but very, very long-winded. Anecdotes and short summaries for support of your ideas are appropriate, this was way to long.

Also, I felt I was getting a motherly lecture about the types of friends to cultivate. Don't have too many of this type of friend and definitely keep these sorts in the outer circle. This book was for mothers, not teenagers. Disappointing.
