Publisher's summary

Men's conference speaker and best-selling author Steve Farrar takes listeners through the psalms to see how David endured crushing pressure and fiery trials and emerged a great man, shaped by the hand of God. Men facing difficult challenges in life will relate to chapters on depression, betrayal, when your family is falling apart, living with a bad decision, living with your critics, and when your career is interrupted. Farrar encouragingly illustrates how David depended on God to overcome the same sins and trials - still remaining "a man after God's own heart".

Thank you Dr. Farrar

I appreciate the facts you give on marriage and character. I enjoyed the walk back to history and the supporting facts you give to make your points. Again, thank you. God bless you and yours.

Fantastic! Should be required reading/listening.

I have been reading Steve Farrar's books for 20 years and this is one of his best. I could see myself and my son in these pages and how God has been at work in our lives.

Great Book

I have read several of Steve Farrar's books and once again, have been enthralled by his simplistic and straightforward manner of addressing hot topics faced by Christian men in today's society. If you have ever faced setbacks or hardship, this book will encourage you and remind you of God's faithfulness in the midst of "the pit".

Hearing the truth can hurt, and maybe if it hurts then it can help

This contents of this book have helped keep me accountable. I didn’t always like this book, but it says what needs said. I have listened to this book close to a dozen times. Three of those times in the last two months. If you are struggling and willing to listen to the hard truth this book is for you!

To say that God causes all bad things is a tragedy

If you’re into the extreme sovereignty of God teaching, then this is for you, but i thinks it’s disgusting. It goes totally against the purpose of Jesus. God isn’t wrecking your life to somehow make you better. God isn’t giving you cancer to somehow make you better. God isn’t killing your loved ones prematurely to some how make you better. Horrible.
