Publisher's summary

Parenting is a school for spiritual formation—and our children are our teachers. The journey of caring for, rearing, training, and loving our children will profoundly alter us forever.

Sacred Parenting is unlike any other parenting book you have ever read. This is not a “how-to” book that teaches you ways to discipline your kids or help them achieve their full potential. Instead of discussing how parents can change their kids, Sacred Parenting turns the tables and demonstrates how God uses our kids to change us.

You’ve read all the method books. Now take a step back and receive some much-needed inspiration. You’ll be encouraged by stories that tell how other parents handled the challenges and difficulties of being a parent—and how their children transformed their relationship with God. Sacred Parenting affirms the spiritual value of being a parent, showing you the holy potential of the parent-child relationship.

good parenting book

Has good values and principles. I recommend it to all parents, who just began this journey or going for quite a bit )))) This book makes us think about some good points. And challenges to be a better, God - centered parent.

Super valuable

As a parent who recognizes the challenge of parenting but isn't overwhelmed by it, I wasn't sure how much I'd get from this book, but my wife wanted to share this with me, and I'm so glad she's did. I especially value the emphasis on our responsibility, first and foremost, to introduce our children to God and how to use almost everything, every day, to accomplish that goal. This is a masterful book.

A must read for parents

Convicting and compelling. Gary Thomas highlights the important approach to Christian parenting using his own experiences and stories to inspire perseverance and sacrifice towards our children. Great read!

This book was so so good. It both convicted me to be better and hugged me. I really recommend this book to parents who want to raise their kids with intentionality, knowing it is a sacred calling.

Very helpful book! great to hear author read it!

I've read Sacred Search and Sacred Marriage by the same author and I appreciate his perspective on parenting as well. I think he lays out a very biblical and helpful perspective on parenting that is realistic and wise.

Lacked the Spirit of Christ

I have enjoyed previous works of this writer, but stopped listening at the chapter that referenced offensive directives to a group that may think differently than the writer. I agree we must prepare our children to handle disappointment and other uncomfortable feelings, but that can still be accomplished with grace and love. Disappointed
