Publisher's summary

What makes someone Godly? Scripture tells us that God has given us "everything we need for life and godliness." But what makes a Christian godly? The Practice of Godliness, Jerry Bridges examines what it means to grow in Christian character and helps us establish the foundation upon which that character is built. Bridges opens our eyes to see how character formation affects the way we relate to God, to ourselves, and to others. In order to live godly lives, we need an inward foundation of God-centeredness. This book will help you establish that foundation and then build an outward structure of Godlikeness.

Great way to understand godliness!

I absolutely loved this book & listening to it on audible! It really explained how to walk in godliness. Jerry Bridges is a very humble man and frequently talks about his struggle with sin. It was challenging and wonderful!

So helpful to me! Easy to read and understand

I really appreciated how thorough this book was. And how practical and biblical it was as well. Jerry's examples AND reasonings were clear. There were a couple of things that stuck with me such as: a devotion to God, fear and love of God, and love of people characterize someone who is godly. Also being motivated by God Himself to be godly is where you want to be. I highly recommend this!

A must read book for growth as a believer.

During my years with the Navigators in Colorado Springs, Jerry was one of my mentors. I greatly value our times together and the impact he had in my life. The Practice of Godliness, along with The Pursuit of Holiness, are two must read (or listen) books. I can say there is a lot to absorb, so it is useful to listen to a chapter (sometimes part of a chapter), take notes, and re-listen (reviewing your notes as you go along). This is one of a few books that throughout the years, I have valued and easily given away dozens of copies to people that I hope benefited as much as I have.

Side note; It would help greatly if the publisher got the chapters correct and included their title for this book. Jerry was very organized in his way of thinking and way of writing. The chapters attached to this audiobook are just large chunks that mostly do not align with the actual chapters in the written book. This does not take away from the value of the content and bookmarks can help greatly as you go along.

Jerry Bridges is never a disappointment!

As always Pastor Bridges presents a clear and compelling view on what Christians should be looking for in holding themselves accountable.
