Countless people are already benefiting from practicing mindfulness and meditation: Less worry, anxiety, and stress. More happiness, creativity, and productivity.
I really enjoyed this introduction. The beginning is background on mindfulness and the rest is a step by step how to meditate and focus on being present in the moment. As a beginner I found it helpful and a great reminder to slow down and focus. The narrator does a nice job as well. I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Where does Meditation for Beginners rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The audiobook begins with an intro to meditation: the history, benefits, etc. After that, there are a large variety of meditation practices/suggestions offered. I agree with another reviewer that the information contained in this audiobook, while useful, is more geared toward intermediate meditators. Novices generally have more success with guided meditations, in which the narrator talks the listener through the meditation from beginning to end (rather than giving a summary of the meditation, and then leaving it up to the meditator to set up the meditation for himself, later). This book does not offer beginning-to-end guided meditations-just the summarized meditations. However, like the other reviewer, I feel that this audiobook would be an excellent resource once you've gotten the hang of the basics of meditation, which is why I rated it as highly as I did.
I wasn't thrilled by the narrator's voice, but his voice wasn't awful, either.
Any additional comments?
I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.
The information in the book is good and useful, however I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner, personally I think this is more suited to an intermediate meditator. There are instructions for meditations but beginners generally have more success with guided meditations and this book does not offer that.
I do think it's a book worth reading once you've got the hang of the basics of meditation.
The narration is clear but a bit monotone, I found it difficult to concentrate on and had to stop and go back a number of times when I found my mind had wondered.

This is a very good introduction to Meditation and Mindfulness. The first 30 minutes is the introduction, benefits, some history, and examples.
After that, come the exercises for meditation. Ideal for beginners. There are also chapters on mindfulness in everyday life.
The audiobook is definitely one you can use again and again as you advance with the exercises.
The production was good. Nice and clear and the narrator did a great job with reading. Calm voice. Ideal for this subject.
This is a outstanding book/tape for someone wanting to learn meditation. The text is crisp and clear and the narration by Peter Lerman (on the audiobook) is top of the line!
You will totally learn to meditate but this is NOT a one off- you will return to this time after time as your practise deepens.
I thank the author and/or narrator for a free promo copy which enabled me to experience this book (and leave a fair review).
