Fighting on the inside is a great way for the shorter fighter to gain an advantage. Staying on the inside away for the taller man's reach staying in a better range for you. Often fighters who like to fight on the inside will have many tricks and techniques they like to use. I have seen boxers grab the back of the head with one arm while throwing hooks and uppercuts with the opposite arm. I have also seen fighters disguise elbows as hooks.
