Be patient

There is a lengthy interview on the front end of this book, as the author wants you to listen to the story of how the book came to be. It is a comprehensive and condensed outline of a Course in Miracles , basically.

Worth a listen, it's short

It's a bit dated at this point and definitely a bit euro-centric but the fundamental point is true: when we take responsibility for our own feelings, the world around **can** change.

The point I think it doesn't do enough justice and, in fact, seeks to obfuscate/muddy a bit is this idea that "the world around you changing" might literally mean immediate change in behaviors and outcomes. I know it spends a few lines dispelling this message but then it spends pages and pages telling optimized, anecdotal stories about amazing transformations, including miraculous physical healing.

I think we need more books that dive into what one does in that period between the (likely) drawn-out change and the immediate seemingly repeated cycle of pain that we fear in the first place. We're not just "stubborn" as he suggests and fear is definitely NOT something we should try to live without as he also suggests. Fear has a purpose but we shouldn't let it run or dominate our thinking.

I'm glad I took a listen. I'm better for it.
