In the past and in many developing countries today, a disease is attributed to malnutrition. Lack of adequate food leads to a vitamin deficiency, prohibiting the body from functioning properly and being able to fight off illness, and ultimately, lead to starvation. Modern society, though, has a bit of a paradox: simultaneous overnutrition and malnutrition. Many of the diseases that plague modern society, such as cancer, heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, are actually associated with an overabundance of food.

The problem isn't that food is not available but that so many of the foods that are typically consumed in a modern Western diet are high in calories and very low in essential vitamins and minerals. As a result, as a society, we are overfed but still suffering from malnutrition. We get too much protein, calories, sodium, sugar, carbs, and bad fats but few of the essential nutrients that our bodies need to function properly. Many people insist that they need to eat a lot of carbs, especially sugar, to raise low blood sugar or provide quick energy. However, they are only masking the myriad of problems caused by poor diets. Our bodies don't need any sugar other than what is found naturally in fruit. We don't need more than 50 grams of protein a day. And we don't need any hydrogenated oils or any of the chemicals that are found in processed foods.

The easiest way to reverse this trend of disease and malnutrition and gain back your own health is to adopt a plant-based diet. A plant-based diet is about eliminating sugar and all processed foods in favor of health-enhancing fruits and vegetables. Dairy, meat, and other animal products are gradually replaced with healthier options that give our bodies what they need. At its fullest extent, the plant-based miracle diet is veganism, though you don't have to become a vegan to reap the benefits.

Well written and interesting

I liked this diet book, it contains helpful recommendations for plant based diet, the book is well written and well explained.

One of the best!

I haven't tried plant based diet yet so I believe this book would be very helpful to understand its benefits. This book has a great overview on this miracle plant based diet is and how it should be done accordingly. This is something that I need to take a look at.

interesting..!

Medication is able to mask the symptoms of the diseases that we face. We tend to relay on a certain medication in order to get a short term improvement of what we feel. But in the end we have to go back being sick again. This book will teach how diet can really helped us being sick and the plant-based diet is a way to treat the cause of disease rather than medicating away the symptoms.

This book is a great listen to all.
It provide helpful tips, tricks and even strategies on how to be healthy and have a healthy consumption.
The author does a great Job in writing and putting essential things with this book.
For me, I can say that I will follow what the author says with this book and I do agree that most of the time, I eat not nutritious foods but with the help of the books I read included this one, I gain healthy body which I doesn't expect.

EXCELLENT BOOK!!!

I was intrigued when I read the summary of this book. I wanted to know more ... I totally agree with the author that if you have a plant-based diet that the health condition improves. I had such a diet for a month, but it was a year ago and my health improved. This book has all the necessary information about why you should at least sometimes give up meat and dairy products. I replace a few meals and feel great. Thanks to the author for this guide. I wish you to be healthy

clear and useful!!

I found a lot of the information here to be helpful and encouraging. I appreciate that there are recipes in the book and some ideas on how to properly combine foods and some suggested meal plans. I have already tried a couple of the recipes and find that they are delicious and simple to prepare. I appreciate the simplicity because I don't think I would be as successful with something that is very complicated. The most difficult part of making the changes is learning how to ensure that I am getting adequate diversity and nutrition in my diet. I am hoping that making these changes will result in weight loss and the reversal of some serious illnesses.

BEST AUDIO BOOK

Really recommend this book to anyone looking to get Healthy and lose weight. Easy to listen, and I am on board and have bought the books mentioned to help with recipes. Forks over Knives has a great wealth of information and recipes to keep you going and inspire you.Very useful insight into the care and maintenance of the body. Author nailed it....

Longevity Decoded! The name of the book sounds like a science fiction book and believe me this is one. The author has provided everything about food science and diet and how the nutrition's works to develop our bodies functioning system. I really appreciate the read the book as it shows how our present diet system is going through a wrong way where we have to work on the opposite direction of leaving the factory made foods and follow the life old traditional plant-based diet. Very much recommended to everyone interested to have a healthier longer life.

Awesome challenge

Definitely worth a listen.

An interesting overview of different types of plant-based diets. I don't want to become a vegetarian or a vegan, and this book explained the types of approaches that would work for me, such as semi-vegetarian. I also found the discussion of macrobiotic diet especially interesting, as well as the chapter on motivation.

The writer is a doctor whom I think can be trusted. Because of this read, I don’t think of this as a deprivation diet. The food is delicious, and I can enjoy plant-based versions of the foods I already love. Focus on the positives!

Loads of great info

I loved this book. Not preachy, informative and baked up with science or facts. As a veggie, it's good to read a book that doesn't shame people into being 100% vegan but encourages you to make healthy choices. I liked the style of writing, the author's voice and the general layout of the book.
