Publisher's summary

Many women are wired to control. You’re the ones who make sure the house is clean, the meals are prepared, the beds are made, the children are dressed, and everyone gets to work, school, and other activities on time.

But trying to control everything can be exhausting, and it can also cause friction with your friends and family.

This humorous, yet thought-provoking book guides you as you discover for yourself the freedom and reward of living a life “out of control,” in which you allow God to be seated in the rightful place in your life. Armed with relevant biblical and current examples (both to emulate and to avoid), doable ideas, new thought patterns, and practical tools to implement, Let It Go will gently lead you out of the land of over-control and into a place of quiet trust.

A companion video-based study for small groups is also available.

Always a throatpunch from Karen Ehman

I love her books. She is honest, real, and biblical. I have read a couple of her books now and they really help me become the best version of whom God created me to be.

So-so

I am not sure if my "so-so" attitude about this book is truly about the book, or my reaction to the message. Am I just continuing to fight for control? Still struggling on that personal note.

The anecdotes generally added to the message, but sometimes made me glad I am not the author’s friend; I just might end up at the unflattering end of a story in her book. I felt the writing style and the message were also not very deep. I wanted more, but maybe that’s a reflection on me—it’s easy to let go if you just do it.

Another reviewer commented that this book is largely meant for married women with children, and I can definitely see why the reviewer felt that way. While the over-arching message is the same for all, the examples and explanations given really targeted married mothers.

Would I recommend this book? Not sure. The jury is still out.

Hard to listen to

Too many story lines and not enough advice. Not easy to listen to at all.

Great content but distracting accent

I appreciate the author reading her own work but I'm so distracted by her Minnesota twang! (I think)

Amazing!!

I am a complete control freak. I related to sooo many aspects of this book. I have already begun to put some of her suggestions to action and I’m loving the results. This is a great book!

Couldn't hold my attention

I bought this book as part of small group class at my church. The concept of this book was great, and I identified with the theme. However, the author couldn't hold my attention. I found myself skimming over the multitude of personal stories she filled the book with (I also bought this in print) to get to the "good stuff" and while driving I would try hard to focus on the book but would find myself tuning her out. Ultimately, I never finished the book.

Not as good as I was expecting

The content boring is at some point, and it was poorly read, not the best choice having the author reading the book, it’s not a placement voice.

Did not like

Did not like at all. I tried and it just didn’t get better. Disappointing. The description was good, but this book is not. I couldn’t even finish it.
