Everything I needed to hear

This is the best book on relationships that I have ever read and I've read a lot. He is extremely intuitive and dead on in his understanding of marital relationships, men and women. There are many religious teachings so if this bothers you a great deal, just know this. It's a book I will be purchasing in print also to be able to refer to. You won't be disappointed. I Promise!

Excellent reading for marriages!

I'm the husband of Phylis and with commuting to work everyday, I really enjoyed this audio book to enhance my relationship with my wife. Even from the man's point of view the topics were easily understood and not so washed down with unattainable goals. I can honestly say it motivated me to be a better husband and father. I looked forward to hearing this everytime I got in my car.

Good book

Even after 20 year marriage, I learned a lot. Recommend it for everyone who is entering or wants to improve their marriage.

Best book ever for dealing with relationships

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes. If you considering a relationship then this is the guidance you need.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Smalley

What about the narrator’s performance did you like?

Yes, I do like the narrator. He wasn't Dr. Smalley, but he sounded similar and got the job done all the same.

What did you learn from I Promise that you would use in your daily life?

It is up to you if you are going to be happy. Don't count on a human to give you that happiness.

Any additional comments?

If you don't read this book then you don't care much about your relationship because this book gives you unbelievable understanding of your mate.

Surprise! Religious rhetoric

Would you try another book from Gary Smalley and/or the narrator?

No. If I wanted to listen to religious ramblings about relationships I would have purchased an audiobook of the Bible.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not this book

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrator’s performances?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger. I feel I was miss led by the summary/overview of this book. Audible should mention the religious content so that customers are aware.

Any additional comments?

Three chapters in and I am returning this book.

My Favorite Marriage Book

Any additional comments?

I think this is a good book and the narrator seemed like a voice that would fit the author.

Read or listen to this book before you marry ...

What did you love best about I Promise?

Real life experience, real life application to the heart of marital difficulties.

What other book might you compare I Promise to and why?

I don't think I could / would compare it to any other. I guess it could be compared to any pre-marital counseling book and yet it deals with one issue, security in marriage, more exclusively than other books do and impresses on you the importance of building that SECURITY into a relationship, even before marriage. It tells you how to do that also.

Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favorite?

N/A

What insight do you think you’ll apply from I Promise?

If I ever marry again, I will read or listen to this book with my prospective wife before marriage.
