Publisher's Summary

What makes Denmark the happiest country in the world? This question has a one-word answer.

Hygge is a philosophy of life that was founded by Danes, and Danes also happen to be the happiest people on earth. Coincidence? Absolutely not!

The concept of Hygge and secret to the happiness of Denmark is finally beginning to enter the cultures of other countries around the world.

Hygge, pronounced hue-guh (not hoo-ga like many say), is a Danish term and it is a difficult word to define in one sentence. There really aren't any synonyms for the word in the English language. Hygge is a great way for many people to find simplicity, and ultimately happiness in life, fueled by togetherness, contentment, and just a sense of well-being and appreciation. In this book, you learn everything that you need to know about how you can implement Hygge into every aspect of your life, and increase your quality of life.

The great thing about Hygge is that it is something that you can enjoy all year long. It is a feeling of being grateful and just happy for what you have in life, being able to spend time with the ones you love, and being able to find an escape from the world no matter what is going on. Hygge can be experienced no matter where you are, and learning how to enjoy it and let it lead you can make a big difference in the level of happiness that you feel each day. This book is going to really explain Hygge in more detail and can it can help you gain this happiness in your own life.

good...

Good ideas. A little redundant. I guess it's really pretty straightforward. common sense stuff. I learned a couple things about this "trend"

Oh So Bad

This book is repetitive and full of cliches. The author is either not a native speaker or an exceptionally poor writer. The writing is at about a 6th grade level. The reader is not any more skilled. He consistently said “pitcher” when the word was “picture.” I kept “pitchering” crockery hanging on the wall. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Ad Nauseum

Explanation of Hygge could have easily been a couple of paragraphs-not a whole book. While relatively short, the book repeats itself over and over.....and over. The narrator-bless his heart, I don't know how he got through it. When it came to the chapter "Other Ways to Add Hygge Into Your Life" I was hoping for different tips that had not already been mentioned 5 times, but nope. Maybe reading the actual book with pictures of all the cozy blankets and candles and good food and time spent with friends and family would be better. ( I just kinda explained the entire book in one sentence!)

Common sense...

This book, unfortunately, didn't offer very many practical tips.

4 simple principles (food, blankets, candles, friends and family) repeated throughout the entire book.

Love, love this Book.....

This book breaks the concept up into an easy list of ideas to choose from, just pick what you want to implement today and go for it. I think the biggest hurdle with this book is not letting it become a to do list that has to be done, which undermines the end goal. I think in the end, I read through the whole thing, am working on a few projects to bring more hygge in, and will then go back in the future and pick a few more to work on. Quick as well.

Excellent presentation of the concept of Hygge

Any additional comments?

The author offers both a clear understanding of Hygge along with practical suggestions for creating a semblance of Hygge in the midst of the crazy busy lives in which most people in the U.S. are caught today.I find it particularly useful in getting through gloomy..
I encourage you to listen it for some positivity.

I am really finding the idea of hygge useful to improving my life and calming my anxiety. This is one of the several recent books on it that is lovely and I encourage you to listen it for some positivity.

A common sense guide to creating hygge! It'd be better if there were inspirational photographs or illustrations.

Great book to learn about Hygge...................

Very sweet book on the art of coziness. My dad gifted it for me, then I bought one and gifted it to a dear friend along with a candle. Spreads joy and warmth...

Bought several copies-one for me and several gifts. A fun book and so indicative of Scandinavians of which I am one!

Great One..

Fantastic!!

This is a fabulous book on happiness and how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Absolutely fantastic! At first the listening is a bit wooden but dont let that put you off. You get used to the voice, but the book itself has made me happier than I have been in ages. Get into it!

A nice little reminder to enjoy the moments we have in life a bit more and to get cosy in all we do. Very short and easy to listen to.
