Publisher's Summary

A vigorous immune system is vital to good health, both physical and mental. Chronic fatigue, endless colds, and symptoms of allergy are just some of the common manifestations of a weakened immune system, while there is increasing awareness of outright autoimmune disorders such a rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Sjögren's syndrome.

The good news is that there are many ways in which we can strengthen our immune systems. This book examines:

  • How your immune system works and what can hamper it, such as poor diet, lack of sleep or exercise, stress and depression
  • Warning signs of a weakened immune system - the self-defence plan
  • Nutrition
  • Your attitude and outlook
  • Exercise and skin-brushing
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Alternative treatments - herbs and vitamin supplements

    Great Info

Great information about health issues and I think the pace of the narration is perfect so that the listener can absorb the amount of medical terms used in this subject matter.

    Sensible, down to earth, ideas

The author has marshalled her considerable experience to give practical, sensible, easy to follow suggestions on how to achieve and maintain a healthy body, free from avoidable minor and even major illnesses.

    Solid, Practical Help

Despite the slightly formal delivery style of the narrator, it is a good source of ideas for maintaining health.

Theresa Cheung focuses on the practical steps you can take without over stepping her authority. She includes technical detail which can get a bit dull but where it's irrelevant I just skipped it.

Skin brushing was an interesting suggestion. I can see why it's included (and very pleasant it was too) but I'm not convinced that it works for me.

Don't let that put you off though. It's a good book offering lots of ideas. Take the ones that work for you and you'll be on to a very good thing.

    ministry of the obvious

Despite earlier positive reviews they must friends of the author

The first few chapters were an in depth medical terminology exercise on diseases such as Bird Flu and were a real struggle to listen to

The remaining chapters were a big disappointment-The annoying 1950's newsreader delivery style of the narrator who struggled with some medical terms' drug names was awful.

A lot of the information is what the vast majority of people who have been living on the planet would know anyway so 95% was nothing new.It comes to something when you are told to wash your hands when you have been to the lavatory or how much soap to put on your hands and how long to wash for

Wished I'd not wasted my money on this one
